My field FINALLY has shrooms lads, couple of cubes and cyans. It's game time. Wasn't a big haul, a lot of practically dead cyans though that I gave a kick to.
Pic doesnt show some of the bruising on them but I assure you they're all cyans and cubes.

Hi all,
I've found these mushrooms in NSW Australia, close the lake in mulch. Can someone please provide ID?

Nonactive Stropharia, not magic mushrooms.

Thanks so much for your response! They look very cyan in the stem and I thought they could be Panaeolus cinctulus.

The gills would be Black from spore depositsif they were Panaeolus of any kind. Panaeolus cinctulus grows in the dung of Horses, never in wood mulch.

They're out there now boys! High humidity and rain has consistently hit the Mid North Coast and cubes are now fruiting.

Hello! Newby here, I’m really interested in going mushroom hunting around my are (lower blue mountains) is it the right season for cubes? Does anyone know where to start from? Lots of cattle farms around here but they are all private, any suggestions?
Thanks heaps!

You can always ask for permission from farmers, instead of risking running into an angry land owner... Most will just find a quiet looking field and jump a fence, be smart about it and it will most likely be fine.
As for weather it's definitely the right season, after a few days of rain and sunshine mushrooms are popping up everywhere. Get out there and get dirty mate!

You might do better searching lowlands around the Nepean after the big rainfalls. Depends where you are situated in the Blue mountains.
Yes now it's the season for them. I bet you'd find meanies- Copelandia cyanescens in paddocks that get good sunlight all day in the mountains. Once temps drop you'd need to look in the lowlands. Say Feb onwards.
Goldtops in the mountains you'd need to hunt around a bit I think. They are probably there if you find the right paddock.
In the wet season we are experiencing don't forget about an early season for subs- Psilocybe subaeruginosa end of Feb onwards in the highlands 1000m plus.
I'm starting to find a few P.sect.Zapotecorum in my area west of Coffs Harbour. The cold Summer is keeping numbers down. P.papuana is fruiting as well in shady spots near logs. Just thought I'd include that for anyone up this way.
Good luck with your search for goldtops.
