#1 Gymnopileus ____(?) i think i know what these are just wanna hear somebody else say it. October 2019. Habitat: Mixed spruce, hemlock, fir, and shore pine forest NW OR, USA. Fallen log. Sea level.
Gills: Classic Gym- Yellow when young producing large quantities of rusty orange spore with age
Stem: Yellowish, fibrous, "scaly" and semi-hollow. Up to 2" wide and 6-8" long
Cap: About 6" across at maturity. Bright yellow-orange, hygrophanous, scaly, somewhat spungey. These were well saturated upon discovery
Spore print color: Rusty orange
Bruising: None observed
Biggest Gyms ive see

#2 i lost my field guide. This guy was really cool brilliant color like those tetras in a blacklight. October 2019.
Habitat: Mixed coniferous forest, under cedar and fir, elevation 100', west slope of coast range lincoln county, disturbed area. In duff/soil, fruiting solitary.
Gills: Brilliant, neon orangish-pinky. Cap: Marvelous fluorescent yellowy-orangey Stem: Long and straight like it should be. Yellow. Not as spectacular as the rest of him. i assume all mushroom fruit bodies are male, or at least masculine. Innumerable penises jizzing all over everything all the time. This was just a little guy maybe 1 5/8" tall. Spore print: Negative. Bruising: Negative

#3 Amanita ____(?) Pretty sure i remember this one. Say it.
Habitat: Edge of woodsy park, near old firs and mixed primarily coniferous forest. NW OR, USA. Elevation 35 ft. Needle duffy forest litter.
Gills: White Stem: White Cap: Yellow. White lace. Spore print: Negative Bruising: Negative
Smelled like a choice edible. Earthy, man. November, 2019

2) Hard to tell from the pictures but could be Mycena aurantiomarginata. Better pics of the cap would help but the color is my go-by. It has that bright Kraft mac & cheese color.
3) If you’re sure it has the volva, Amanita lanei would be closest fit I can see. If it’s not a volva but a clavate base I’d say Stropharia ambigua.

1) Gymnopilus ventricosus would be more common to our area and has substantially thicker stipes than junonius.

Thanks Doc. Its either G. junonius or ventricosus. im starting to realize just how difficult these can be to I.d. beyond genus. i havnt bothered with them much as it seems like we still dont know shit about them and it seems like there are a lot more species out there than whats been described.
Its not G. sapineus those are in the same habitat but looklike
gymns are crazy. i think were probably calling most of them by the wrong names

Gymnopilus species are much easier to identify when younger. But even if dealing with young specimens the bright orange ones can be difficult or near impossible to tell apart without a scope. G. luteofolius and G. thiersii are macroscopically identical.

To be fair, you did title the thread as an id request thread.
