The fruit MAY be safe however be aware that psychotria seeds are used as rat poison in some areas in Brazil.
Be cautious since there is very little fruit may not be worth it for that reason alone.

Why would you want to eat it rather then plant it? Mine just started flowering and I would LOVE to plant the berries should they develop, would be cool to get some new genetic lines growing and see if the phenotype / alkaloid production changes.

He can still eat the berry and plant the seeds. He could gnaw the berry off while placing the seeds aside to plant.

Very true, I just assumed he meant eat the whole berry since there's not much flesh. Here's something I read on another forums a while back, but his plant may have been misidentified and actually be P. Alba;
Quote:
I've been growing this plant for years with many berries coming and going but today it dawned on me to give them a taste. They are actually quite good likened to pomegranate.
This raises the question are these edible? Can they be used in an Ayahuasca brew? Should they be dried for propagation or thrown in with the rest of the leaves for processing?
If you try it let us know! You have any pics of your plant?

I have eaten a few on mine without any negative effects. They taste like a bitter pomegranate. I see no reason why you could not cook with them. Just need a bit of sugar. They are in fact tasty!
My plant and berries below:

I believe you have to dry the berry's out first.Then soak the seeds and plant them. This will be my first year growing from seed. I am going to try using jiffy greenhouses to germinate them.

Wonder why drying first is required, I would have though the opposite. Hope mine set fruit this year!

I don't think it really matters, Dry or fresh berry, they should still sprout.
