Found some On The Border tortilla chips, dusted with Tajin, at the Big Lots. I’d never seen them at the grocery store.

I had 2 steepings of Japanese 1st flush sencha earlier. After I trim some trees outside I'm going to enjoy a few steepings of this "assamica ruby" oolong tea I just bought. It's an oolong tea made with assam leaves with high oxidation level. Assam is usually reserved for black tea but they made an oolong with it. Should have the similar notes to a black tea but with an oolong finish.

Got cheap but decent red wine paired with some 1000 day gouda, blueberry stilton, and raclette. We also have some polish sausage and some good mustard. Apps for dinner.

Been doing rye and ginger ale, hubby got some basil hadens rye that I'm saving for rocks or a nice beverage. Been dealing with shitty motel ice for too long at this point. Good drinks coming on the 1st, as well as homemade food again.
Summer gin/tequila/mezcal is gone, whisky for the winter.

Am I the only one that never mixes expensive hard liquor (defeats the purpose of buying seriously top-shelf) to dilute it with anything other than an ice cube or a small bit of very good spring water.

OK, cool thought I was going wrong when I use smirnoff for mixed vodka drinks (has a nice finish) and saved the good stuff for on ice.

Other than flexing money and ignorance there is no point in mixing quality booze.
This is coming from a full on subsidized bar person.
It's interesting when you get into tastings, we are conditioned to associate price with quality and often its about artificial scarcity and marketing.
I would say transgressions start with artifical flavors, but I'm a bitter bar professional.

Very good point, their is truly terrific booze out there that is really cheap. If you find a type of booze you like (I'm partial to scotch) do some research and some tastings. Some of the so called "cheap" stuff is better than shit with big name recognition.
Example my favorite scotch is Laphroaig's 10 y.o. and it's around 40 a bottle (cheap for scotches) oh and if you are interested in scotch don't start with Islays, they are more advanced scotch drinker level due to smoke/peat/seawater tastes being very pronounced

Good quality hard liquor like grey goose or patron is good on the rocks. You can sip it like it's wine and savor it.
