Go a bit higher than 2g. Or don't. Either way, candied ginger is an amazing cure for that upset stomach you'll probably get.

I recommend that you watch this:

It gives some good perspective to dosage. There's nothing wrong with working your way up in dosage.

Intention. Willingness. Trust.

Whenever you're going into an experience, it's important to try to reduce the excessive clutter of the world that might be festering in your mind.
If you have loose ends, they have a tendency to dramatically present themselves to you at some point during your trip - often the comedown.
So, if you go into the experience with focused intentions, you'll be less likely to become overwhelmed.

Maybe your intentions are to just explore experiencing the world with a totally different perspective - after all, that's what our connection is to these fellow Earthlings.
It's so often a euphoric, enlightening, and eye-opening experience that has you come out feeling washed cleaner than you ever have before. Washed so clean your eyes see better and your mind thinks sharper and deeper.
But it also has the potential to confront you more intimately with the unpleasant and discomforting aspects of your psyche. This isn't something you should fear - quite the contrary. These times can be just as, if not more, developmental to the transformation of your being. Just as arduous physical trials make us stronger, so too do the trials of the mind.
No matter what, you'll want to be willing to succumb to the experience that the substance has to offer you. If you push, it can push back. It's important reach harmony - to ebb with flows and vice versa. It will be your experience, but it isn't something you should think you can wield.

And so you must trust it and trust yourself.
Physiologically, your body knows full and well how to process these substances.
But sometimes your psyche can feel threatened - it's at those times that you have to fully trust that the substance has no sharp edges. Trust that you can completely let go and allow it, along with your exceptional machine of a body, to cradle you safely to the other side.

Anxiety will happen. It's an incredibly extraordinary situation that you've signed up for the moment you've swallowed something - it's only natural to feel a bit anticipatory and a little fearful. That goes away to a large extent with experience.
As far as getting lost in anxiety because of the intense effects of the experience - if you make your intentions clear, let go, and trust the effect of the substance, you'll most often be granted with an awesome humbling experience.
If it gets to the point where you feel like your mind is getting lost in repetition - try to focus yourself on some basic function like walking or stretching. Sometimes even just a slight change of setting can transform an uncomfortable time to a wondrous one. Listen to yourself. If you want to curl up under a blanket, do it. If you want fresh air, get it.

Great advice to OP, footpath.

I’d add a little: for me, taking mushrooms is never EASY, but it does get EASIER. I put the anxiety down to a number of factors: as you said, ingesting a drug that alters your mind is always going to cause concern. If I take a large dose of mushrooms, I definitely think my anxiety is caused by that feeling “you are losing your mind”. You know instinctively that mushrooms and yourself are safe, but you can never shake the feeling that this time, shit yes I am actually going mad!

My anxiety starts in the preceding week to a trip, and ramps up the night before, and the day of fasting.

I have had a bad trip many years ago that has stayed with me. Additionally on higher doses, I always have the fear of the bad trip tucked away in my unconsciousness, keeping it real.

With experience, I have however learned to accept the fear as a normal part of the experience. For me, it maintains the respect (a respect I didn’t fully have in my 20s).

I have also discovered that this anxiety is easier to deal with when I trip alone. When you do trip alone, it is you, the mushrooms, and your psyche. I have found that because there is no one to turn to for help, I help myself, and it is so much easier to “let go”.

I would advise OP to search on “Lemon Balm Tea” on the Shroomery, if you really cannot handle the come up anxiety; this will reduce / remove come up anxiety, and wears off after about an hour, which will get you more or less to the peak. I have tried it once so can confirm it works. However, in my opinion, it detracted from the experience, so I won’t be using it again.

Mush love,
DJ Ed
