LogicaL Chaos said: DMT is an intense psychedelic and can be overwhelming. However, low doses of DMT is very manageable and you get a good taste of the psychedelic experience in general without freaking out from the experience.
If you decide on trying DMT, invest in a dab bong! I own one specifically for DMT and it works very well. Very user-friendly once you get the technique figured out.
And since this is the Shroomery, I highly recommend growing your own shrooms. Shrooms are the best overall psychedelic in my opinion, especially for first timers. One of the "friendliest" strains of cubenis that Ive found is African Transkei. Mazatepeca is another one as well. Lots of options out there but those are two of my personal favorites.
I was looking at a vaporizer that was recommended elsewhere on this forum. I believe the extreme q and volcano vaporizers were most recommended as well as the glass vaporgenie. Any suggestions?

Mushrooms are the best to start with, I believe.
Think about it this way. If you take one tab of LSD, there is a chance that you won't get the full effect or you'll get too much of an effect. If you do end up getting the proper 'one hit experience', then you're locked into a sometimes intense 8-12 hour trip. An 8 hour trip, much less a 12 hour trip, for your first time gives you plenty of time to get a bad phone call, hear/read some shitty news, have to go out in public to go get something or because you're just so bored inside, etc. Not optimal when you're feeling pretty funny. A tab can be gentle enough that none of this will deter you from having a great time, but I talk to many people who just think that it lasts too damn long. It can be nerve-racking when you can't fall asleep after your first acid trip.
If you take two grams of mushrooms, I would say you're guaranteed an experience that can be repeated with consistency. Obviously psychedelics are anything but consistent, as I'm sure you know with cannabis, but a two gram trip is just not going to mess you up as much as a true tab of LSD and is going to come on very gently if you eat the mushrooms. Then you're locked into a sometimes intense four hour trip. This gives you plenty of time to explore the headspace in the comfort of your own home, listen to music, contemplate the peak after, then go to bed at a reasonable time (if you so desire ).
I started with roughly a gram of mushrooms, and received the psychedelic high and the very bizarre mushroom thoughts and feelings with only minor visuals. This was perfect for me, as it piqued my interest enough to go to a higher dose but also showed me just what people meant when they told me how weird tripping was. I only say two grams because sometimes people report nothing happening on amounts like a gram, and I do believe I'm pretty sensitive to psychedelics.

I once heard a saying like this:
"Acid is like driving drunk down the autobahn. Shrooms are like being strapped into the passenger's seat. DMT is like being chained up and thrown in the trunk."
Personally I would start with a low dose of lady lucy, as its effects are more euphoric and less teach-y, they don't force you to focus on uncomfortable things you don't want to focus on (at least at lower doses)

This will probably catch some flack but I think this is the healthiest outlook to have. It can be an interesting hobby to figure out how they work, they can make you very vulnerable and full of wonder like a kid again, but I think many people, artists included, just don't have much to gain from them. They wear off, and I think a few high dose experiences, spaced out, are enough to teach you their lesson. Not even super confident I can explain what that lesson is, but I think it has something to do with accepting what happens to you and seeing it as a small part of a big whole. Different perspectives, the like. I think that's how they teach you to be a better human, and the kind of dose that makes you grateful for life and death is just too big (imo) for an average person to do that often.
Then again, I haven't really worked with them like some people here have. Some take massive doses multiple times a week, or are able to counteract tolerance through a large supply. Personally, that just seems a little reckless and would make it pretty difficult for me to make money and keep a variety of relationships and interests.
