I think I need a new seal for my 23q Presto

Hello! I prepped some jars last night, started a run this morning.
I hadn't used this stuff in like 2 years, the seal seemed to have shrunk. I bathed it in warm water and stretched it a bit.
Anyway, the nail thing finally got pushed up, but I saw that steam seemed to have been coming off from under the lid, I heard some faint high pitched whistling.
I immediately turned it off, haven't moved it, I am just waiting for it to depressurize so I can inspect.
Any advice on what to do? Or should I just wait for a new seal to arrive? Is there a fix? Soak then stretch? The seal should be fully hugging the outer layer of my lid with a tiny bit of slack right?

Same thing happened to me, the seal gets old and shrinks a bit. It kind of worked for a while but fiddling around with the lid but you need a new seal..

Try coating it in vegetable oil, I used to have an old pressure cooker and I would have to do that to get it to seal correctly.

Did both of these, put the seal back in and put the lid on.
It felt like it just slided into place. I should feel some sort of force of the seal twisting when I seal the lid right?

If your pressure cooker gets up to 15psi you are fine. You need a new seal anyway but if you can cook these grains off first you will save them from going green.

The nail went up again, but the gauge never went up, still made weird sounds so I took it off.
I did tighten up the gauge screw yesterday because it was a bit loose. Is it meant to be loose or fully good?
I think it's time for a new seal :l
Also, what I have in there are WBS PF Cakes, not grains. How soon do I have to pc them before they go bad? Prepped last night, has some dog food mixed in as well.

what I did was wait till the nail went up and then swiveled the lid slightly to see if I could complete the seal. U can tell by the way steam doesnt hiss out in certain areas. You have an inch or so to play with when turning the lid.

Those damn gaskets. They do indeed wear out. They shrink and become brittle.
One time, I was trying to stretch one and it ripped. I managed to get a few more uses from it by sealing it back together with RTV silicone. The seam of RTV was almost 1cm thick so it increased it's diameter.
When they are new, they are almost too big.
There's got to be a way to preserve these things so they last longer. I was thinking of brushing them with veg oil after every use. Keep a little jar of oil with a food brush in the lab. (grungy basement really)
It's about all I can think of. I bet there's something more effective than that out there though. Does anybody here understand the nature of this rubber seal shrinkage/brittle phenomenon?

vegetable oil is the way to do it, i think they even reference that in the owners manual.
