I think I've messed up prints
    #26438102 - 01/17/20 09:09 AM (4 years, 12 days ago)

I made prints after PF Tef fruits, but they were not done in a glove box

They are not so dark because I am a noob and didn't do things properly

Using Agar, I'm hoping that any contams I'll be able to isolate and use mycelium and  salvage them.
As an ADDer, I'm impulsive and not great at planning, but I'm learning.
Am I in cloud cuckoo land?

I have post it note that I write down the jobs I need to do a date them.  Stick them up on aboard and trust yourself.

Prints aren't clean anyway so you always have to clean them and need 3-4 transfers at least regardless.

You almost sound like you know what you are talking about.......... Carry on!

Spore prints are contaminated because of the open air exposure.  Other spores and germs are riding along.

When you put them to agar, hopefully the mycelium will start well, but you will also have contamination.  So a transfer is taken by taking a small piece of the mycelium and moving it to a new sterile agar plate.  This one has less chance of being contaminated.  However, often there are still ride alongs and so another transfer is needed.

So on and so on with the transfers until you are left with only clean mycelium on the plate.  This myc from the final transfer is what you would then use in the next step of the process.

You swipe a dish with spore print that looks like this , transfer the first growth to a new plate, examine the growth of that and tranfer the good bits to an new dish......repeat till you have a plate looking like this and then use it to inoculate grains
