Found them growing from a partially rotted tree stump in my yard.

Well. They are Pleurotus, but maybe not Pleurotus ostreatus, North American species of Pleurotus ostreatus do not completely line up with the European type species used to define Pleurotus ostreatus.

Edit: North American species need further study.

If identifying Pleurotus ostreatus species in North America the word group should be added sinse the species in North America doesn't completely match the type species.

If, the observation is European then it's only Pleurotus ostreatus.
