Cubensis Mutant Blobs? Eat or no?

I have been growing standard pftek cakes the same way for over a year, same tub, same methods, same spore supplier, always fine and almost 100% contam free. Then the 3 batches ago the cakes came out with these massive blobs on towards the end of their lives. I tossed them. 2 batches ago it happened again but on the 1st and 2nd flushes but not 3rd. I discovered these blobs might be edible so have removed and dried them but not eaten. I also read some other dude who was reporting similar oddness and he said it went away when he used an unmodified tub, so for the current batch (in the pic) I have taped up the holes. As you can see they have come out they same again, in fact more intense - but some mushrooms are fighting through. I'm fanning 3 times a day and misting once or twice if it needs it. They had a nice consolidation period as well.
So what causes this? Should I just bin this whole tub and start afresh? More importantly, can I eat these? They're not slimey or funny colored, just rather substantial.
All the info I can find on these blobs seems to be related to PE but this is just some generic cubensis (don't recall what strain). I think this may have all occured since I got the last spore syringes - could this all just be something to do with the spores and it might go abaxk to normal with some new syringes?
Cheers!

That white stuff on your cakes it's the blobs your asking about? I've never seen something like that. It's not foam is it? Personally I wouldn't eat that but I wouldn't throw out the cakes either, you have a couple nice fruits appearing so I would pick those blobs off and wait. How long have they been in your tub? Also I would pull some of your tape off, at least one time all the way around the tub. Lack of FAE will cause long stringy fruits. They'll keep producing though, after you pick off those blobs. I have ten cakes in a SGFC and they've produced nearly an ounce of short fruits over the past month. 5 cakes, third flush. Other five second flush. B+ and purple mystics respectively.

I've had stuff like that on cakes before. I don't know what it was but I didn't eat it. My cakes had seemed bacterial but still put out enough shrooms to be content with. I wouldn't bin your cakes, let them carry on and eat the fruits from them if they seem fine.

Righty ho, cheers guys. I'll remove them and hopefully they stay away.
The tape was just an experiment based on some guys comments who was having similar issues, but it's not made a difference either way so I'll take it back off.

They were fine! I typically do 3-3.5g but as I was unsure about these I only did 2.25g. Effects were as expected and no weird stomach upsets etc. 10/10 would recommend.
