First grow - fruiting issues? * 1
    #26436853 - 01/16/20 01:30 PM (4 years, 13 days ago)

greetings mushfolk

I've finally got five jars in my SGFC for my first grow! The first two were put in there 4 days ago following 24hr dunk n roll. They had both started pinning in vitro before birthing. Jars took a long time to colonise (like over a month despite being 4oz).

I think I overmisted for first two days and had slight but dodgy smell. Drained standing water from under cakes, aired out the chamber loads and even left lid cracked for one night to encourage evaporation. Now misting by eye, rather than schedule.

I'm not seeing anything that looks like pinning but there is "fluff" growing out of the cakes and into and around the verm layer. Just wanted to check that this was normal, and ask how long it typically takes until might see pins?

Temps: 25-27 degrees celcius (77-80)
Humidity: 65-75

Is your SGFC to spec?  It looks like the holes are small and only are on the sides halfway up?

If so, the bottom, the entire sides, and top of the chamber need to be drilled as well.

holes are possibly smaller than spec but they are drilled all over, and on all sides.

now that ive stopped misting heavily, i can see water evaporates easily from the chamber in between sprays without excessive fanning. i assume this means that the SGFC is circulating adequately?

Trim your foil back to expose the perlite more. Should help.

Also, only mist when it looks sorta dry or totally dry. Dont not mist too frequently!

Yeah.  Sounds like over misting if your SGFC is to spec.  Definitely let them dry between misting.  Not dry out but evaporation is the fruiting trigger.

Exactly. Dont let your SGFC dry out completely but it does need to dry up a little to induce fruiting.

Thanks folks - judging when to mist is pretty hard with this fine verm. More used to the coarser stuff.

Do the cakes look ok? Not sure about this fluff?
