In your opinion what do you find to be the most strange, unique, interesting thing that is alive.
You must provide a picture showcasing your specimen of choice!

I think squids and octopuses are incredibly fascinating for their many unique features.

Humans are interesting indeed. But on the other hand they are pretty basic, at least in my opinion.
We are just evolved apes with a powerful ego due to the nature in which we evolved.
There are dolphins that have twice the size of our brain and can use it for echolocation.
Elephants, Dolphins, Octopuses, Pigs, Horses, Cows, Crows. All very intelligent and probably think
we are the stupid ones.

Just my thoughts though. Humans are pretty gross and selfish.

How is that basic? I also said somewhere else that humans are gross. Humans are torturous and cruel. I go on best gore at least once a week for a good half an hour session. It puts things into perspective for me.

My favourite category is electrocution, burning, and shootings

yeah my bad, am not sure why I said marsupial at all; thanks for the correction

and mostly by fucked up was referring to the laying eggs but nursing young combination
which, to me, makes even less sense for the echidna, as the Platypus at least has some features that make the egg-laying not seem so strange

Most of the stuff you find in really deep oceans is pretty weird.

I'm on a phone, I refuse to Google a bunch of examples. Angler fish for example don't just mate for life, the male attaches himself to the female and withers to little more than his genitals.

Goblin sharks are pretty fucking weird looking.

That's for sure. There's definitely a bunch of odd creatures in the ocean that we will probably never know about. It seems so easy to just drop 1000's of cameras into the deep ocean to see what we can see, but I guess it's harder than that. I wonder if they can;t make a camera that can withstand the pressure or they just can't transmit the info through the water?

Yeah there so many otherworldly deep sea fish that fall into the interestingly unique category that I couldn't really pick just one example.
Shroomslip already provided two good ones.
Pelican eels & Dragon fish come to mind as well.

Another group of animals with too many strangely unique candidates would be insects.

So choosing a creature that captures a little of both types of weirdness. I give you,
Mantis Shrimp;

Yeah, I saw the other day where Pigs learned metallurgy. They started to bend metal into all these different shapes, they even built a couple of jet engines and added them to it and took off flying around Mach 1 speeds. Must've been visited by aliens, and they gave them our technology.

Soon the Dolphins will build an sub-aeromachine and come fight us, probably when they stop raping each other and form a democratic society with the sharks and octopuses.

But in all serious, not an animal, but viruses.
Viruses are wtf material. Purely symmetrical foldings of proteins. They're not technically alive but becomes alive after it takes over your DNA with its mRNA. Going down a wikipedia binge on viruses will blow your mind.
