Grateful dead July 13, 1994 Highgate, Vt. Franklin County Airport
My third dead show which would be my last show. I was 20, a student at uvm (soon to be ex) and I tripped on 2 hits jesus christ superstar acid (Alex Gray purple jesus artwork). It was a rough night for the band and jerry in particular was not hitting the words very well. The next week I saw Phish at sugarbush when they played an amazing run catapault harpua run harpua 2001 harpua featuring references to Shoemaker-Levy 9 comet hitting jupiter at the time, and I focused on phish tour after that.

Let's do this so I this fresh shit doesn't get bumped. Daily dated dead delightful 7/14/76 San Fran!
If you guys didn't hear, billy strings with Bill kruetzmann/billy and the kids. After what they did on kreutzmanns birthday along with this I'm firmly established and I will not change my position. Replace Mayer with Billy Strings 2021andforever.
Haven't watched the whole thing yet. But if you want some fresh licks and someone who doesn't sing like they're waiting on the world to change. Billy playing dead is what you've been waiting for. Billy strings and Billy and the kids at Redrock 2 days ago!

John Mayer is like the Ryan Seacrest of the music world, incredibly hard working and continuously popping up in places you wouldn't expect. While I totally get the complaints I still submit that dead and co is the best post dead band in terms of performing the dead canon. He may not be your cup of tea but he can sing which is more than phil and friends had. Also I have mad respect for john's sexual conquests, for real he has nailed some amazing pussy. I would gladly swap places

No I get it. He is very talented and good looking lol. Pretty boy. Probably had alot of opportunity in his younger days. It would be cool to get a mayer back story in depth for the dead community ha. I'm sure its out there..? And ya he can sing better than a 80 year old man. But Phil's kids / band actually spund pretty good, saw them a couple years ago. Sure he sings better than Phil. But I'm telling you, just listen to Billy strings a bit. I think dead and co is bound to evolve even more. Or do they quit when mickey and Bob are done? And sure mayer sings better than Bob too. But that's nothing. I mean put mayer up to someone else ha. Dead and co, I shot you not, is slow as fuck. Go on YouTube and play it at 1.25 speed. It sounds like the dead. Now go play the dead on YouTube at .75 speed, it's dead and co. And it makes since. Mickey and Bob can't keep up with him. Wbich is really my whole point. Sure he's good. But they're all old,and that the only reason he shines. I'm trying to think of some acts that I could compare to mayer. But really he just reminds me of like Ed Sheran and pop music in gener. Which brings me back a lite, sure he's a great player and singer. But he does not have IT. IT, which belongs inside these dead tunes, is not in mayer. Sure he's grown into the community, and you can hear him express this in a recent interview with oteil and Bill on comes a time is actually pretty good. If you guys haven't seen this
He doesn't have the rasp in his voice, the look in his eye, the rip in his licks. Like the guy,but he's way out of his league.
And don't get me wrong, I've seen you say you like phish and 80s dead. So it makes a little more since to me. I love the deads oldest stuff. Anything with pigpin, a harmonica, and those super tight snappy guitars jerry would play less molded. I love the blues/folk/experimental shit they did and clearly by the late 70s they were alot less of all that. Dead and co def reminds me of late 70s plus dead. Most of the time. Kinda like phis. Fast tempos, alot of synthetic, definetly not super bluesy.
But that's dead and co. I listen to whatever dead covers I can and usually they got something solid.
