I need some more Live Dead Music in my life. Phil Lesh has a bar near me and he plays like every other weekend, but charges too much for tickets. Like $60 to $75 a ticket to see Phil playing with some no name guys. I've seen them before because every once in a while they do it for free, and it's good, but it's nothing like Furthur or Dead N Co and they charge the same price.
I have WSP tickets, Phish tickets, and Greensky Bluegrass tickets coming up this summer. I would kill for some Dead and Company tickets to go with all those!
The boys have got to be dying to get out on tour. I know they're old now, but that is what they have done their whole life and 1.5 years of sitting at home has to have them itching to play live shows again.

Theres like 3 nights of the Mahalo Billy and the kids and theyre all prob fire. I think Billy and the kids is best thing running . Dead and co blows ass. Phil plays birthday shows by me every year that are always really popular but I've heard it's gone a bit flat over recent years.

For real though! I kinda feel the same. I haven't been able to get into em' all that much.
TBH I haven't listened to Dead&Co all that much, mostly because the times I have tried giving them a listen I just wasn't feeling it. Just not much energy or vibe going on from what I've seen/heard so far, kinda flat/dull. I have no interest in seeing them live lol. Especially after seeing the cost of tickets for one their shows a year or two ago, it was crazy expensive.
JRAD ("Joe Russo's Almost Dead", for anyone that doesn't know about em' for some reason lol), they are the band that has the vibe and energy of the dead these days IMO. They kill it! I feel that they not only nail the dead songs and do the GD justice but also bring in a bit of their own vibe/style with out ruining it...They sound soooo goood though! And I feel they actually have a vibe and an energy to them as well as the crowd at their shows. I just listened to this show a few days ago, so far it is my favorite JRAD show that I've heard so far.

JRAD was supposed to play at, headline I believe, the High Sierra Music festival last summer. (2020, canceled of course)
I'm hoping they do so next year! It'll be sooo lit!

That's tight. I love bill and Mickey. That was really sick tho, I love long distance compilation stuff like that, seen alot of it lately with covid I guess. Phill has done a couple virtual sets with his band long distance. That's cool they got them on it too, cause it's not an original, they're just the shit. Should have got Mayers punk ass on that geetar lol.
Honestly made me think of this right off the bat tho, I love this.

I've never heard of dr. John but that was definitely super cool. Got a dr John recommendation? Not trying to get off topic, but he did put that together soooooo, what's something good by him??

Dr.John was a kinda counter culture Cajun guy who was in the scene from the beginning he's most know for his classic right place wrong time and his fantastic live proformances but has alot of other forgotten gems. A true fusion artist pushing the know boundaries of sound and style. Bringing together funk psychedelic rock jazz southern folk and many other musical elements to create a truly unique original sound that is simpley unmistakably Dr. John.

A longtime Dead head I am. When I signed up to this forum, my first choice for a username was Terrapin Station, but, unfortunately that username was already taken. Here it is, one of my all-time favorite studio-recorded GD albums, Terrapin Station.
"Some rise, some fall, some try to get to Terrapin."
Something about growing up in MD so poor the only pet I could afford were half-dollar sized turtles bought at Grants' five & dime? Something about camping with my sons in the summertime & hearing how General Washington sustained his men on scavenged turtles in the winter near Valley Forge, PA ?
"Crickets and cicadas sing, a rare and different tune."
Watchout for the bulbous orange eyes of the 17-year cicadas; they're out for mating this year, so says Norah O'Donnell.
