ot this bag of burpee coir, says its 100% coco coir on the ingredients. Its already ground up and dry and it says 8 qts of material in the bag.

Im gonna be trying it anyway, just curious if anyone else whos got experience with it might be able to give me a nudge in the right direction for adding the right amount of water.

Im just plannin on 3 shoeboxes 1-2 spawn sub ratio with it, found it at wally world on sale for a little over a buck and couldnt just walk past it haha

I don't know about how much water to use, but check out the 1st GIF in the TEK for exactly how it should look

Not to hijack this thread, but did anyone else stock up on the 8.25 pound coir bricks that walmart was selling at the beginning of this last spring season? They were like $7-$8 a pop. Damn good deal, the local Petco wants $11 for the 3 packs of the standard sized bricks. Think I bought about 10 of those suckers, wish I bought more... that’s nearly twice the amount of coir but still for a bit over 20% less than that eco earth, and the coir looks to be of higher quality(but what do I know, I’m no mushroom).

But to answer your question, there’s a *general* water to weight formula with coir that, lucky for you, I currently do not remember. But just slowly add water until it’s at field capacity. If you go a little overboard, just add some vermiculite to make up the difference.

You should need about 2.25L to get that bag to field capacity

lol I wouldn’t even think goodwill would bother with coir.

If it’s too wet you can always just squeeze it out as you put it in the shoeboxes.

I bought a bunch of them but used them pretty quick. Not gonna lie though, its just so much easier getting eco earth bricks that are weighed individually vs having to chip off chunks and weighing it.
