Ready for fruiting?
    #26435069 - 01/15/20 02:21 PM (4 years, 1 month ago)

Of course I've used the search function like I try to do for most of my questions but sometimes it's situational.

Second pic is monotub day 10 with a thin layer of CVG put on at spawn. Second is shoebox.

Shall I put mono into fruiting now, or wait longer? Also, some people suggest fruiting at spawn (polyfil the holes) but I don't understand why? With that amount of fae how are we supposed to build up the c02 levels to let the spawn colonize?

You don't need co2 levels to colonize. People have been doing fruit at spawning for over ten years.

I wonder why people have the extra step of adding tape, then removing and replacing at full colonization. But I did it for years!

The wonders of a mind able to change and adapt.

Short answer yes you can and could have at any point with the monotub, shoebox I can't speak to fruiting at spawning but it's ready now.

Here's an example of a tub from my pic of the day, cased and fruited at spawning two layers MP tape on bottom holes, 1 layer on top holes.

Zero maintenance until harvest, no wondering when the time is right to change conditions, it'll just fruit when it's ready.

Looking good. Keep us posted.

Ok so you went with micropore instead of polyfil any reason why? Also you didn't have to mist at all even with that much fae for so long? What's your RH in your room? If that even matters. Cool I will toss into fruiting. As for the shoeboxes. I will leave them sealed as most SB teks just leave them shit till harvest or until they require a dubtub to accomodate the height of the fruits

MP is much cleaner and easier. Night and day difference especially when harvesting, anyone who has tried removing poly from fruits understands, that is the main factor in addition to it not being so easy to bump or push out while shelving and unshelving which can happen with poly, dry a tub out, enraging the cultivator. Smaller footprint of supplies too on both ends, storage and garbage with mp tape vs poly.

I do not have to mist, one mist when like come won't hurt but not needed. That is a standard set up, 2 on bottom, 1 on top, not an extreme amount of fae although i get a small amount of drying near the holes it is fine.

My rh fluxuates depending on the weather, if it has rained or not rained, but somewhere between 20 and 40.

Sounds good. Will use mp tape. The RH in my area is 60 to 70. Will this change anything in the procedure?

Wouldn't think so. I don't bother running humidifiers although I have a few.

Ah I get ya. I have to run my humidifier in the space I'm growing because the humidity allows the heat to hold better in the area. The area surrounding this area is cold so I have no choice for now. thanks! Tubs are in fruiting. Will keep ya posted every 5 days

To make sure I get proper fae in these tubs do you recommend having a fan going 24/7? I got a little 4 inch duct fan that kicks on for 30 minutes every hour but I could just let it run always

RH is not important, your surface moisture/conditions are.

I understand that but if RH is too high evaporation won't occur properly? Or if it's too low the provided fae will dry out the sub? That's my thoughts

if your RH is high you don’t have to mist as much and vice versa, i don’t know what else to say.
