    #26434054 - 01/14/20 09:55 PM (4 years, 14 days ago)

Hello everyone,

Been fruiting my cakes now for about a week and they are just beginning to take off but this one cake has some strange spots I cant make out if I should toss it for not. Any experienced opinion helps thank you.

Also, whats that white wire?

The wire is for my hydrometer I had been misting 3 times a day but I had bottom watered way too much as well under some false assumptions so my cakes were like slimy and waterlogged and I found out they wouldn't pin like that so a layed off and I've been misting a lot lighter the past few days only twice a day and more fanning and pins arrived shortly after. I was just concerned cuz those spots seen a slightly different hue than the rest of the bruising I've seen.

Its important to mist as needed, never on a schedule. Its sorta like plants: U only water them if the soil is dry or the plant looks dry.

Same for PF cakes, mist till they are moist (not wet/soggy) then dont mist/bottom water until they need more water. Its a balancing act that takes time to get down.

Bruising comes in all sorts of colors. Usually trich is a darker green and forms a layer covering over mycelium.

Yeah I definitely still have a lot of learning to do I guess. I will leave it be for and try to mist more effectively

Just bruising.

When I started out I tossed a few cakes when I saw them bruising. Now I know better. I still ask here to be sure, especially if the bruising looks weird, but I've definitely got better at identifying it (and if you grow cakes you will see it a lot. Especially with a SGFC).

Good looking cake, good luck with the grow, I see it is on its way to something amazing
