Noob here, I haven't seen this on my grows yet, should I be worried about what is going on at the base?

Yes.
Edit: Looks like Trich to me. Check the sticky notes at the top, I believe the first one has a list of contams and pics. If I remember correctly, there is a cake with the same color mold growing on it.

thanks for the response, I've gone through the two sticky threads and found some cakes that kind of resemble what I have going on, the response was
Quote:
Kizzle said: It's just mycelium caused by the higher Co2 levels near the substrate and blue bruising from the substrate drying out.
It has no scent, and the color doesn't really match the trich images. Could it be a mix of fussy feet from bad FAE and bruising? Here's another picture of the cake with no fruits

Looks to me like cobweb. Trich is a distinctive green color.

On second thought does not look like trich or cobweb on first or second pic. Did they get too dry? Might try removing fruits and pins/shredding the cakes to coir.
Not sure what happened but something stressed the myc out.

Those look like bruised / dried cubensis mycelium to me.

Thanks guys, I had a bunch of cakes in an SGFC doing their thing and I had to go out of town without notice for a week. I put some of them in a HC and shredded the other for bulk. The bulk ones did great, and the one in the picture is a result of the HC.
