Your puny perspective.
    #26429093 - 01/12/20 03:29 AM (4 years, 1 month ago)

I was writing.... after enjoying some very delicious tea.

About this and that, just trying to overpower any comeup anxiety creeping its way into my headspace...

Im Writing about this crappy job I once had, while getting ever more spaced out. It had been minutes since I had written more than a word or two.

I started to feel uncomfortable..... lethargic........ Felt difficult catching my breath even though my breathing was just fine.
Focusing on breathing......

YOUR PUNY PERSPECTIVE DESERVES TO BE SMASHED

YOU FOOL........................................................

"Being a kid is thinking that you know everything, being an adult is realizing you don't know anything...."

A friend of mine is a teacher, he says a lot if not most children have this way about them.
They think they know everything.

There actually is a psychological reason for this.

When your entire life is just living at home, and going to school, maybe YOU DO know everything about that.
Your world is still so small...... it hasn't expanded yet..........

Even those of us with the Grandest appreciation for the world are just kidding ourselves.

"THINGS YOU CANT EVEN BEGIN TO UNDERSTAND"

War
Death
Institutional evil
.....
The psychedelic experience.......

These things arent real to us until they are right in our faces...

Somebody who has never tripped before cant even begin to understand what its really like.

I know a man Who was drafted into the marines when he was 19 years old..... Vietnam.

Him and all of his buddies, fresh eyes recruits from the states...
They had an idea in their head of what it might be like......

Their entire perspective was quickly smashed by the realities of the chaotic and sometimes institutionally evil aspects of our world.

Its not real to you, until its right in your face..........

these terms are the echoes of some abusive adult and you need to find some peace around the events in which that abusive person dominated your world.

We are not puny, we are the right size for our lives, although we easily may pretend that we are more important. Still it sometimes seems reasonable for the purposes of negotiation to declare someone is puny. It provides a competitive edge, but it is a bully 's tactic.

By calling you puny, the dominating adult was jockeying for emotional position, though you must realize there is also a little guy in his head making him feel inadequate, and this also is being transferred while he berates others.

Not going to speak for Buckomcdoogle - he can clarify when he is back online - but I interpreted his lines about "puny perspective" etc. to the message delivered to him by the mushrooms he consumed, not some adult person in his life.

I could be wrong, but that's how it reads to me.

“The more real you get the more unreal the world gets.”
-John Lennon

I think in the grand scheme of things our perspectives really are very puny.

"The mushroom gives us an inhuman perspective of our human  problems"
-Terence Mckenna

What kind of stuff gives you anxiety or makes you worried on a regular basis?

Bills?
getting to work on time?
Girlfriend/boyfriend shit?

I like to believe we arent here to just chase money and pop out
kids.

I think a lot of the time we hear about things, war, crime, poverty, disease, nature, life and death.
We get an idea in our head. We think we know.
But the realities are much harsher and brutally honest than we can imagine until you experience those things first hand.

Teenagers are a great example of that.
You have an idea of how the world is, but a lot of the problems people face just arent real to you yet.

These ideas go back to at least Socrates...

Of course. I agree with all this completely. "Out of sight, out of mind". We hear about all of this terrible shit going on in our world, and continue on flicking through our social media with no second thoughts. Put someone in front of a car bomb going off and let them witness innocent people being blown to sheds with limbs flying all over the place - PTSD for life.

No thanks dude, it’s bad enough reading shit or seeing stuff on the news. Before Christmas BBC news ran an article about people rescuing koala bears in Australia from the bush fires. They showed footage of a woman rescuing a bear, that was whimpering. I was so fucking angry with the BBC for that one.

No pal, empathy can be a real bastard! Life would be so much easier with the psychopath gene (no empathy).

Yeah I know it's messed up. That analogy was pretty dark and I should not have maybe used that:lol: - but you understand the point I'm trying to get across. I never watch the news. It's literally everything to start your day off with a bunch of negativity followed by one "heroic" story of some kid graduating school and getting a scholarship or something:lol:

Yeah man , I feel really bad now too ✊🏻

That kind of shit really gets me to the core. So in 2005, I too stopped watching the news. It wasn’t a case of an ostrich putting its head in the sand,  I like to think it was more that I just didn’t have enough emotions left to handle all the doom and gloom. Hit and run small child on way to school. Paedophile this, sex traffic that, chemical warfare here, WMD there! Couldn’t take anymore.

And what they do tell us in the news is so biased!

I try these days to concentrate on local affairs; more like a tribe mentality?/? Mushrooms made me like this....

Fact is often crazier than fiction.

Ignorance is bliss.

We as Americans/Europeans are all very sheltered.

I went to middle school with this kid that was from Somalia.

He was like 13 and had a scar on his bicep from being shot.

One of the dishwashers at a job I once had was from Honduras.

One of her nephews was shot and killed on his way to school, he was 10.

I went to college in flint bruh, I watched kids get poisoned, their parents begging on the streets for help, their tainted water get shut off because they couldn't even afford to pay their bills. Their 4.0 students in the same classes as me on scholarships struggling with the schools concepts because their hood school education was so far behind that of the other curriculums in the area. multiple generations of kids damned to a life of poverty and violence because they were born black in a shitty area. Americans and Europeans aren't sheltered, Last I heard paris was half taken over by terrorists, the united states is plagued with gangs and lunatics, you just have violence painted with a different brush here. maybe you don't have to worry getting shot on your way to school in most places, or at church, but that's because this is a godless country and people know they'll get more people at a theater.

oh wait, churches, schools, mosques, concerts and any other gathering you can think of get shot up all the time here.

Travel Warning WARNING: The US State Department and most Western nations advise that you avoid all travel to Mogadishu for any reason. Continuous activity by the al-Qaida affiliated terrorist group, al-Shabaab has resulted in numerous kidnappings, suicide bombings and generalized chaos. There is a particular terrorist threat to foreigners in places where large crowds gather and Westerners frequent, including airports, government buildings, hotels, and shopping areas. In 2016, there were 14 documented attacks directed at hotels, restaurants, and the international airport in Mogadishu. INDEPENDENT TRAVEL WILL MOST LIKELY RESULT IN YOUR DEATH.

https://wikitravel.org/en/Mogadishu

Mogadishu Adventure specializes in tourism in Mogadishu. Standard tour covers Black Hawk Down Site, Liido Beach, Mogadishu Fish Market, Shanghai Old City, Jazeera Beach, Qat Market, Bakara Market and more. Mogadishu Adventure also arranges tourist visa, hotel (with WiFi), security units and meal plans for tourists. There will be 5 armed guards on each pick-up truck accompanying a maximum of 3 tourists.

Visitors are encouraged to stay inside for the duration of their stay. The chances of theft and/or assault are extremely high while walking around the city.

Tours: It is not recommended to move around in Mogadishu without security guards. Untamed Borders arranges guided tours to Mogadishu,

Remember a couple years back when that college in Kenya got taken over by terrorists who murdered some 150 students?

We are sheltered, dont get it twisted.

How often do you worry about starving to death or dying of thirst?

You live in a country where you are able to go to college.....

A large portion of the world lives on 1$ a day.

There are parts of the middle east that are so torn by war and famine parents give their children opium because its cheaper than food.

I have always been sincerely greatful that I was born in England. I hate the establishment, the government, the police, the teachers, the estate agents.......but I am still greatful!

We need to stop breeding now! Terence McKenna has a talk where he discusses asking the mushrooms for informations ‘ solutions. He asked how to solve world poverty. The mushrooms gave him the simple answer that we all must limit our breeding to one child per couple. The world’s population would be halved in one generation!

I’m not trying to be coy here, the world is fucked up. It just upsets me to the core, anytime I read about anything out there.

Mush love,

Great talk, I know exactly the one you are referencing.

The big problem with that, which Mckenna talks about in the same lecture is.

a lot of the world is highly religious, if you go anywhere in the middle east, africa or southern asia.
Its part of their culture to have as many children as they can.

Which is ridiculous when you think about how much poverty  a lot of those people live in.

India supposedly won't have enough potable water by 2030

Yeah I now recall the religion bits. I think another aspect in 3rd world countries especially is the high birth mortality rate. Therefore you have as many as possible to make sure some survive. And survive so they can look after the grandparents.....

They tried giving people in India radios years ago, in return for being sterilised! Fucked up, dude....it needs to be a choice.

Like I said, empathy will be the death of this planet!

I’m older. First post too.

The only constant in this Universe is change, constant change. We adapt/evolve or die off. Death is no more unique than birth and it happens to all of us.

I can’t get to worked up, despite massive media attempts to cause just that, since the World is almost equally balanced in good and evil. The media show off the huge evil because it sells.

1., you can’t get drafted into the Marines. You could only be drafted into the Army. People, back during days of the draft, voluntarily enlisted into the Marines, part of the Navy or the Air Force. Especially if the had low lottery numbers.

I’m not that old, but I did serve as a combat medic. I’ve worked with death, both traumatic and end of life, too long for this person. I’m medically retired.

In many ways humans have n civilization have always been shit, but at the same time they can be amazing. Don’t get to worked up over things, especially since we have little to zero control. Just try to be decent to your fellow humans, animals, plants and Mother Earth.

Trauma and PTSD is never fun, but it does get better if you allow yourself to actively seek the good things of this world. You will feel better about yourself and life.

In the end, you may have started ignorant but happy, then a beacon of education, only to find out that as you age, your mastery becomes more historical though you are happy to have had that title; Jack of all trades, but master of none.

I’m sad about the raging fire in Oz, particularly the losses on Kangaroo Island. But life will thrive there again. Maybe not in my lifetime, but as sure as the sun setting this evening and rising again tomorrow, a good, if painful cleansing, instigates a new beginning.

Mother Earth uses its tools for cleaning things up. We call them disasters, but fires, floods, winds and volcanoes/earthquakes are what nature has at her disposal to fix problems.

When younger, everything seems so dramatic as we are severely impatient. We understand years. One cycle of the seasons. I have a meteorite dial in one watch that’s over 4 Billion years old. It’s there to remind me that while decades may have seemed like eternity to me once, it’s all about a timeframe and perspective I can’t rightly imagine as a short lived human. But I do have faith in the architecture of the universe.

In the end, don’t get TOO worked up by anything.

Just my $0.02.
