Post shake colonization time...?

I inoculated my jars exactly two weeks ago, and then did the shake when it was around 20% colonized, which was about a week after. I shook my jars last Tuesday, and here I am still one week later after the shake and it still isn't fully colonized. It seems to be colonizing slowly, almost to the point I think it has stalled, but when compared to a couple days ago it is progressing. My last project after the shake it was completely colonized 5 days after. This time it has been one week after the shake, and is about at 75 to 80 percent colonized. The fact that it is B+ is also playing into my head because I thought it was supposed to be a great colonization and contaminant resistant strain. My Pink Buffalo I did last time around was much more aggressive and really took off after the shake fully colonizing 5 days after, while this is still colonizing one week after the shake very slowly. I'm worried I may of done something wrong this time around, not sure as I did everything the same... Shouldn't they be fully colonized at least one week after the shake? Any advice, input, or experiences?

Are you using an isolate?
If not, speeds will vary jar-to-jar, especially with MS grows.

It was a spore syringe. Last time was a Pink Buffalo spore syringe, and this time I used a B+ spore syringe.

Yeah it’s anyone’s guess how fast they’ll grow.
But you also prolly have at least some bacteria in your jars cause syringes aren’t 100% clean.
Either way, you’re not that much off - 2-3 weeks is as good as you can hope for with spores. If it makes you feel better, the more potent varieties tend to colonize slower🤷🏻♂️

Post a picture. If they recovered and are growing again thats a good sign.. shake at 20 and it usally takes ~7-10 days to be finished IME.

Because of this, my guess would be bacterial infection.

Bacterial infection? I have no signs of contamination, the mycelium is white and healthy.

Yeah, bacteria grow alongside mycelium, but they leach the nutes and stress the myc, which gives other contams a bigger chance.

No, that's gypsum that spread out everywhere whenever I shook it. I over did it on the gypsum. For some reason when I started to do a 10 minute boil on my grains I threw in gypsum again by mistake (lapse of mind, I don't know, wasn't thinking clearly) after the soak when I shouldn't of. That shouldn't affect any colonization though.

So what do you think? That's gypsum, not yeast. Yeast would smell.

Other than the dots and sweaty jars (possible signs of yeast), looks like every jar I ever shook🤷🏻♂️

It seems to be like that probably because the difference in temperature since the colonization gives off some heat inside the jar. I've had other jars that have had that before, that's just from a temperature differential.

Ime, only bacterial jars did that. But that depends on ambedient temps and how exactly jars are stored so idk
Edit: although, if only SOME of your jars do this...it would make sense is all

I dont know enough to say whether it looks contaminated, but could the foil over the lids be restricting GE? My jars are going slow too but I think maybe it's a bit cold this time of year.

I don't have any white granules on the grain that would be indicative of yeast... I think it's just colonizing a lot slower than I'm used to.

I don't think it is contaminated either. I think it's just colonizing a lot slower than I'm used to, and that is probably because of what you said with colder temperatures around this time of year. I'm keeping it at room temperature and put the heating on to raise temperatures to 80 when I'm not here at work, so I think it's just going a lot slower than I expect. Usually after my shake it would be fully colonized by now, but I'm going to wait until this weekend. I don't have any white granules on my grains that is yeast, I put in extra gypsum when I shouldn't have, that's what the grainy stuff is.
