What up fellow fungiphiles? Had some decent luck in Gwinnett last week. Habitat shots are super tough, so my apologies there. Just too risky for me, as it’s in a neighborhood where I’m sorta sneaking through woods...not on private property but close. But wanted to share this pretty blue bouquet! Sorry, old phone and old human taking pic ....anyhow, wanted yall’s opinion on how long to wait after rain before hunting my known patch? Friends have told me anywhere from 1 day to a full week, so wanted to ask you all with a bit more experience? Thanks & good luck out there! I’ll have some better pics soon too

Those are some nice looking weilii there! And that sounds about right. More often than not somewhere near the middle of that range, roughly 3 days after a good soaking, is your best bet. I've noticed it varies slightly from patch to patch though.

Keep an eye on tropical storm Sally this week. We are predicted to get between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain from it on Thursday and it is likely to affect the western and northern suburbs more than the eastern suburbs. That could be a huge boon for all you folks northeast of the city that managed to escape the heavy rain in late August.

holy shit tell me that the 1 in the middle doesnt have an inscription of ill bet some kind of power word at the bottom right edge of the of the cap in that 3rd pic, ull have to double magnify to see it. dude i would eat the left and the right ones first and hold on to that middle guy until ol yin and yang set in and allow me to read that middle boys inscription 1 time out loud before it went down the hatch, to seal in place a pact that i would have now acquired with those delightful little blessings man the waves on those caps in that pic are so perfectly captured in that pic they look like a work of art painted onto a canvas like a perfect curtain, man that shits making me trip right now as i type this, HOLY SHIT!! guys! i really just had a minor flashback from looking at those i could almost taste them

Lovely comment! I love how you describe the caps as curtain looking. I think it looks like a blanket The different coloration and patterns are amazing . Such beautiful and various mushrooms. Couldn't believe they were weilii at first. I didn't see anything legible on the cap though This reminds me of the story of Gastón Guzmán and the Ganoderma lobatum he found on his search for evidence of ritualistic mushroom usage. In an old church in Oaxaca, Mexico, a shrine was built with a polypore mushroom as a center piece. On the underside, an etching of saint mary, the sun, and the moon, could be seen. The clergy appeared to hold this mushroom in high reverence.
Here's an interesting quote from the abstract of Guzmán's Hallucinogenic Mushrooms in Mexico: An Overview "Psilocybe, with 53 known hallucinogenic species in Mexico, is the most important and diverse group of sacred mushrooms used by Mexican indigenous cultures. Psilocybe caerulescens, known by the present-day Nahuatl Indians as teotlaquilnanácatl, is hypothesized to be the ceremonially-used teonanácatl mushroom cited by Sahagún in the 16th century, the true identity of which has remained obscure for centuries."

I just noticed a barely visible "F" where you're talking about. Roughly the same size of the "F" in "FISKARS" on the clippers. Nice eye!

Lot's of rotten in an area I've found them before and check almost daily while walking my dog. Evidently haven't been looking close enough. It really can be hard to find them just scanning the grass from a distance. Today I got to look alot closer, moving grass around, since there weren't many passerby. Here's one of the better looking ones after having spread grass apart.
