It's remnants from the veil and I've heard it called fibrillose material. Subpruinose seems accurate too. These are all words I can't pronounce lol.

Does anyone know of any rain dances? Haha.  Starting to dry out a little.  Hopefully that forecast for a week out is on point.  Lately I find myself looking at it multiple times daily for some reason.

July and August kind of suck for weilii at least. It’s too hot and most of the time too dry.

But you still have hope if we get some downpours.

Yeah, I went through last years thread and it looked like it was bone dry for a min.  Hopefully those beautiful rain clouds will be in abundance in a week or so

Last year we had the drought around late Aug/September, I can imagine it wasn't good for hunting. Looks like rain at the end of the week, hopefully.

I'm in North GA, live in the Alpharetta area, but work near Lake Lanier. I've been cultivating for awhile, but I just got into hunting this season. been using Mushroom Observer to check IDs.

I have a plant nursery which has irrigated woodland and field areas. As far as disturbance goes for weilii, would bobcat work (treads running over red clay, mixing pine needles into soil), and cutting down trees (we cut down pines because they just fall eventually) be enough?

Or is are they more commonly found in residential developments where there has been earth moving work and grading?

Also, there are tons of deer on the property due to the old owner setting out feeders. Would their dung be worth checking for pans?

I'm also going to check out some recently developed parks, as well as some horse fields I might have access too. Hoping for some decent results there.

Sorry for all the questions, didn't want to start a new thread and couldn't find the info after some searching.

Youd want to disturb the ground the bobcat nit just running the tracks over it.  But ues mixing pine straw and pine branches/sawdust will help,  may take a year or 2 to see any fruits though.  But definitely worth the try.  Mostly they like the grading, so use the bobcat to strip topsoil, and bury the pine straw and branches in the red clay

I ate the smallest weilii in that group I found a few weeks ago and boy I was expecting a micro dose but I almost full on tripped. Happy to have them here in Northern GA.

Sweet man.  I am definitely getting anxious for my first weillii find. Well first active for that matter.  Been scoping out many places.. just the weather isn’t good rn. Found a horse pasture that looks nice, maybe I will gather the courage to look for Pans. In the later months.  Haha for some reason all the cow farms around me are empty, so trying to remember which fields had them there is a little tricky.

I don’t even know what to say to all of that. Those responses literally made me laugh out loud though!

I can say that the forest canopy is very high where I found these. So it is cooler and more damp there than the more open areas. Also a creek running within 20 yards.
