I could definitely be wrong, this is well outside of my firsthand knowledge. OP, I’d love if you could get some in situ shots if there are more out there, this is potentially a novel find for Georgia

I recall reading about it on mushroom observer speices list.  When I was interested in finding some here but never came across any yet.
Definitly a awesome find for Ga.

If possible post these finds on M.O  as well.  Would also like to see some in situ shots, more discription on habitat they were found too

Heres what I found, but I found NOTHING of green bruising inocybe in this state. Dude may be onto a new species or at least new observation for GA.

Thats the exact one I was reading about them on.

This is the part

Stijve et al. (1985) discovered that all psilocybin-containing species of Inocybe lack muscarine. Kosentka et al. (2013) found that muscarine and psilocybin have not been found to co-occur in a single species. The biochemical pathways that generate the two toxins are entirely distinct and unrelated (Agurell & Nilsson 1968; Nitta et al. 1977; Bresinsky & Besl 1990). Their analyses (Kosentka et al. 2013) also suggested that the loss of muscarine is a requirement to have psilocybin in Inocybe species.

I still wouldn’t consume them even if they are said to not have muscarine. I wonder if the lawn was treated with a chemical? Many different lawn treatments have blue dye in them that this guy could have absorbed.

They do have the classic psilocybin blue though so I doubt it’s a dye.

I would definitely not eat them. Not until they get sequenced by a pro. And I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that's probably not going to happen

Lastly, muscarine and psilocybin are both mutually exclusive compounds in species of Inocybaceae. That is, both toxins have not been found to co-occur in a single species. The biochemical pathways that generate the two toxins are quite different and unrelated

Could be a bad trip- suddenly start drooling a lot and you're trying to figure out if you need to go to the hospital.

Not to detract from what could potentially be a really cool discovery, I found a very healthy patch of caerulescens today.

Nice find! Looks like another grass patch. I keep waiting to see some in the many lawns I see throughout the week.

Same here brother.

Sweet find though man! Nice specimens.

EDIT: I honestly think I found one today. The cap was mostly black though but that could have been spores maybe? It was tough to pull out and kind of blue on the stipe but for whatever reason I didnt keep it.

These were not found in a lawn, just fyi. These were growing in a grassy patch near a paved pedestrian path in an area that was cleared within the last 10 years
