I think someone could make a perfect theme song for ya ghosty.
Take Ocean Man by Ween and replace the word ocean with mushroom. Mushroom man, take me by the hand, lead me to the land that you understand Mushroom man, the voyage to the corner of the globe is a real trip Mushroom man, the crust of a tan man imbibed by the sand Soaking up the thirst of the land
Maybe change a few other words but it fits and I know you like ween lol.
Haha sorry for the derail.

PurpleDurp said: If anyone can answer two questions that were raised over the years, about these weilii, I would much appreciate it: 1. If these (or P.caerulescens) were used ritualistically by ancient Native Americans and; 2. Has anyone ever found proof of sclerotia production? I've found them with chunky, large bases at the stem, but I'm not sure that is what is meant by sclerotia.
1. Yes, native Mexicans, the Mazatecs used them.

2. Not to my knowledge
There is a cool series on Vice called Hamilton’s Pharmacopoeia. They did an episode called ‘Magic Mushrooms in Mexico.’ It covers present and historical ritualistic use in Mexico, María Sabina, Gordon Wasson, includes a brief hunt with Allen Rockefeller in the jungles of Mexico, a local’s sweet Caerulescens patch growing in sugar cane mulch and a US based grow operation.
I watched it on YouTube fo’ free. I’d recommend it, pretty interesting. And really, really cool to see a dump truck sized load of Mexican Caerulescens.

I’ve successfully propagated using stem butts on cardboard in a mason jar- Started with butts on cardboard in the jar with lid loosely secured. Left in cool dark place(In dresser drawer), burping jar every so often to exchange air inside. Once the cardboard began to show decent colonization, I added sterilized pine chips to the jar along with crushed sweetgum balls, pine needles, red dirt, sort of like a concocted substrate. Cardboard colonization began to jump to the wood chips and eventually took over the jar. All of this took place over a years time, always burping jar for fresh air once a week or so. ITS A SLOW PROCESS WITH WEILII. A year later when my concoction was fully colonized, I buried the contents of the jar with fresh wood chips a few inches underground, covered with pine needles and leaves and whatnot. Months later it produced fruit. At that point I spread the “culture” throughout a shady grassy area for nature to take over, slightly buried by compost.
Cool! That sounds easy enough. Did you have to rehydrate the jar at any point?

Well for my first hunt in 12 years today my goal was to find some potential habitats that I could circle back to in the fall. I found several great potential habitats but I also found a few active patches. Even though I was literally riding a bike, finding these things is just like riding a bike. Good to know my experience from years back still translates. How the hell do I upload pictures?

Thanks evly!
HumbleHunt, I’ve gone back and read previous year threads and have seen your epic contributions to this forum. Thank you for all of that. Do you still stand by your assertion that pine beetles create ideal habitat for weilii? Do you have anything that you’ve observed since 2009 that you’d like to add? Are pine beetles still a problem this year? I’ve had trouble finding them.

Found the tiniest solo weilii in a new spot. Possible there were more there, but I couldn't for the life of me find em. Also within a stone's throw of a creek.

Yea I don’t really have anything to back that theory up other than comparing the coverage maps. The posts I’ve seen with flourishing weilii in the devastated pine forests were old also.
