Checked my ovoid patch and weilii spot (where I found them last November) and found nada.
Thinking the ovoids might be done for the season (said it before and was wrong).
Holding out hope and looking forward to seeing everyone’s finds after all this rain. Good luck!

Armillaria stipes are unmistakable once you’ve seen them a couple times. There’s a word for it, but it’s escaping me at the moment. Additionally, the patch-ily hirsute caps of the Gyms (zoom in on the potato pic for examples galore) vs the more uniformly hairy caps of Armillaria

Thanks ghosty. You’re the shit. I am trying to compare photos they just look so similar but I can see the more uniform look on the Armillaria. Boy did I butcher that spelling in the other post haha.
It’s going to take me a few more times of seeing and comparing in person to really tell.

Scurfy is the word I couldn’t think of. I woke up this morning thinking “scurfy”.

Hey everyone! I’m new to foraging this year, and I was hoping for a bit of advice for weilii season! I live on a golf course in southern Forsyth County with a lot of loblollies and pine straw. Is there a chance I could find some weilii this summer in my neighborhood, or should I look in non-residential areas? If anyone is willing to share any nearby parks or areas that could be a good bet, I’d also appreciate that. Thanks and happy hunting!
