Haha yeah they can be tricky.  Just gotta keep in mind the colder mornings make them grow slower too than in the warmer months.

Do they feel denser in the colder months? Lions mane seems to grow faster and spongier when it’s warmer

This one was a little more fresh, but the cap was still somewhat dry.

I’ve noticed these about every time I find my weillii patches.  It can’t be a coincidence...  Must like the same habitats?

Nice finds y'all. I'm feeling left out. Took a dust broom to my spot today and brushed leaves away hoping to find anything. Nada. The spot was way more productive in the summer I think. Though my first find ever was back last November. I think the flood events didn't help right away. Maybe could have helped long term if it doesn't just keep happening with heavy rain. I've been going to the place for over a year now and can say that flooding like this has only happened in the last couple of months.

So for those of you who’ve been doing this for a while, how did 2020 rank? It seemed like it was pretty busy from this thread but I don’t know what’s normal because I haven’t been doing this for that long.

It was fair. Nothing outstanding in my opinion

Maybe a tick above average for me.

I was going to ask something along the same lines.  Looks like there were a lot of big finds this year and I was wondering if it was because people had more time from being laid off or was the weather more conducive to mushrooms this year?

Oh that’s an interesting thought. I didn’t think of how the pandemic might’ve affected things.  But it looked pretty booming so I’m surprised it was just a little above average. I guess Georgia really is amazing for actives....

My first season finding P. caerulescens, but if this is a tick above avg, then next year is gonna be pretty dope!  So far for the season I’ve been blessed with a little over 1/2lb dried!  Which many friends and fam has enjoyed and potential new patches have been started!!! Maybe there is one more avg flush to be had before it stays cold every night...:poast:

I was honestly surprised this year didn’t pop more than it did. It was slightly above average in my opinion however.

I feel like late summer was above average but the fall season is seriously lacking, damn near a complete bust so far
