Chonker!! I don't know how well that would work Evly, i tried that with ps. cyans with no luck. I'm not sure if stem butts work with these guys like other wood lovers. You may want to soak some caps or prints in water and pour that on promising looking areas . Either way it looks like you're balls deep in them now.

Using rotten mushrooms as spawn is a great way to start new patches. the fastest way is to transplant an intact section of the mycelium mat with pins into fresh substrate. I've used this method to start hundreds of patches instantly as opposed to waiting a whole season for the mycelium to mature and make fruits. If you have a good mother patch you are all set.

Any particular reason? Everything that I have read so far about A. persicina makes them sound like an interesting trip. Surely trying it at least once should be okay, right?

i think for it to be a slightly lesser waste of time there should be a lil red clay under that pine straw and there was a post in one of the ga threads about differences of pine straw and pine needles and which one is better, something about the orangeish tone ones under the tree they fell from (or something like that) being better than the grey or brownish ones from the store, but dont quote this newb, on that lol or u can use that expertly efficient protip shroomhunts just enlightened us all with before i finished typing this lol but if u just really want to try the other way i gotz a perfeckly preprared pratch of prine straw in my yard thats just a beckoning u my evyl friend... since ur being overrun and all

so Dr.G, those do contain that muscimol and ibotenic acid? i think there was a certain way to prepare them that reduces some of the negative effects that was slightly discussed on that hamiltons pharmecopia episode. he definitely took it dryed and i dont remember if he was munching them all night or if he just ate the one. there was an account from that guy von Strahlenburg that makes them seem rather enjoyable if ur into and can handle stronger or different kinds of trips, awareness's, and perceptions. unfortunately i think im only seeing the lookalikes and dont bother to have them id'd but hearing all that "u dont want no part of this shit dewey" kinda makes me think i want a part of it lol so as soon as i find the right ones, which i will be on the lookout for them now i will let ya know fatzio if of course u dont beat me to the punch

Let me read this in the morning when I’m not hammered and I’ll give you a thoughtful response. I think the ibotenic acid is converted to muscimol with heat. Hold until tomorrow around 11 and I’ll read some and have more insight

Nice cluster!
RE: Amanita persicina
From this helpful prep guide: https://www.shroomery.org/8671/Preparation-of-Amanita-muscaria
The active principle in Amanita muscaria was in the past thought to be muscarine. Dr. Albert Hofmann and Dr. Richard Schultes have discovered that ibotenic acid and muscimol as the active principles. The ibotenic acid fraction is converted, via the refluxing in water, into muscimol. Inconsequential amounts of other alkaloids ARE present, but largely inactive mentally.

New patch. Serviced this area for 3-4 years and they’ve never popped until now. Really old but still gonna mix em in the soil at the casa.

also would shredding up a bunch of rotten weilii and spreading them under pinestraw be a waste of time?
I think the key is to imitate a landslide. You think what happens when a property is graded. The soil is turned along with any woody debris are mixed into the soil. Many whole plants in these overgrown fields and small trees get mulched and blended into a clay/thatch mixture. What I have been doing is mixing up about a foot deep of soil with dead briars, dead dried grass and old pine needles into it. Then I add any spoiled weilii or butts into the plot while giving it a fresh churn. I really believe there has to be lots of dead organic plant material with the clay to provide the right environment for the weilii mycelium to live and feed on.
But time will tell. I just started this a few months ago in a 2x2 foot area under my porch. Stays very moist, shaded with some weeds/grass growing on it.

i think you're right on the money fsh. They're lignicolous, feeding all those good nutes from wood debris/plant matter. hence why they love construction when all those goodies are pushed below the surface. It's an underground feast for em
