Your ideal mushroom cultivation room / lab...?

I have the rare chance of moving into a new place and having free reign on a section of the basement... My Question: if money wasnt a restriction, what would be your ideal setup? Do you build a whole room? Nice amount of shelving for shoeboxes/mini mono's/tub's? How about ventilation? If I build a room should I make it positive pressure, sealing door? Thoughts and suggestions are much appreciated! Moving in 2 days! ~ROAR

I just use a converted bedroom. Center island workspace and Martha's side by side around the majority of the perimeter.

Nice... I've got the rest of the week off and permission from the wife so I'm trying to figure out what the best bang for my buck is gonna be... I want some counter/table surface area for sab's and things like that... I guess my bigger question is if I build a room, what should the ventilation system look/act like... if I'm ultimately trying to create a walk in SAB...

If you like, I can move this over to the Gourmet Section. A lot of those guys dont come over to this forum often, but they probably have better answers when it comes to grow rooms, considering a few of them are commercial mushroom farmers.

Much appreciated! I'm learning as much as I can from as many different sources as I can find but after a while I kinda had to pick a direction and so far I'm sticking with cubes... I'd like to try some pans but I wanna get a few runs under my belt before I go to the deep end... lol

Just shelves, monotubs, spawn bags and a lab as separated as can be.
Remember to leave room for spawning, a couple work tables are great to have.
Nothing too fancy. If you have HVAC vent /return register in the room I wouldn't sweat it. In my situation a portable a/c unit kicks on several times a day drawing air from outside and the return HVAC register exchanges the air well enough.
I recently splurged on some lights, the 6500k, 5200lumen led lights, come in 6packs, reccomended.
Good luck. With half a basement I positive you have room for 50 tubs with room to work.
It's such a shame more people don't have the space. Cultivating in a house rocks.

I'm awaiting the finish of my barn renovation. 2 floors bottom is a full bath, one room, and kitchen/dining/work area. Upstairs is one open room. Gonna do spawn work downstairs and fruiting upstairs.

Building a 16' x 14' lab in a basement extension hopefully this year. Used to be an epic hydro grow room and is going to make an excellent lab. Full waterproof wiring with 220 service, good lighting, drain ,hot and cold water plumbing and ventilation already setup. So I'd say my ideal setup will luckily actually be reality soon.

Vivosun grow tents off of Amazon work fantastic. 6x6 tent for $100 or so, one for work and colonization, the other for fruiting. Temps are very easy to control, that's why I dig em. We like the house cold, we keep the tents at a steady 70.

Nice! They've got it set up for a laundry room nearby so I'll have all the water and electrical I'll need there... I'm no stranger to building shit so I know I've got work to do but most of the things I'll need are "within reach"... haha

I'll definitely be looking these up... she has other projects for me that might need some enclosures of this sort... lol

What are your end goals? How much are you trying to produce? With three rows of shelves 8 feet long I've grown a lifetime's worth in two months

I started building an 8x10 inside my connex, but have paused trying to figure how I can make it a little longer. I’ve got a big office desk to use as a work table and cabinet for storing shit. Just got ahold of an old stove so I can PC out there also, but I think I’m going to set that on the outside of the room. It’ll be nice having a dedicated space and moving things from the house. In time.

That's been the biggest question I keep running into... how much am I trying to produce... or better yet, how much time do I want to dedicate every day/week to myco work... I love the hobby and it's been doing wonders for me in regards to quitting drinking... I'm not really in it to become the godfather of mushies, the journey has been the goal, not the destination.

Any updates on how this turned out? I'd love to see the setup.
I'm moving in a month and will be working with quite a bit of space so i'm taking inspiration from all.
I love the setup filthy has.

This was a few weeks ago... ive made modifications as I went and like it a lot now. Good use of space without being packed in. Air movement is sufficient...

Looks cozy and efficient!
What kind of lid design are you using on those jars? Hole in the center with a strip of micropore across the lid? Are you using Rye berries or oats for spawn?
Diggin' the setup.

Oats all day. I have all sorts of different configurations on my lids, mostly from fucking up making LC lids... lol. When i make more I'd like to do 2 eighth inch holes closer to the outside edge of the lid... some of the fuck ups that ended up like that seem to perform the best... but that could all just be in my head... lol

You want ventilation for real! Do t close it off it will choke you if you grow in that room of the co levels. I would just want lots of shelves. A flow hood a 75x or 75x's and lots of room to move. When I did my room I built it to be able to move around and have all my supply's on my counter or in drawers then shelves are for spawn and tubs can't ever have anough shelves!

Nah... thats not even half the room... theres plenty of room to move and a special ventilation system built in. Thats just the fruiting shelves, and over flow jar storage, lol
