Lol. I hear ya on the ADHD. Shits annoying sometimes. Try to leave well enough alone. But my advice is get a bunch of shit going. Like way more than you need so that you have some to tinker with and some to leave alone. Foucus your energy on making more spawn and leave the boxes be. Also try kratom. I started it to get off pain meds and found that it also replaced my ADHD meds. Good luck. Keep growing them booms.

I was in a similar uncertainty myself in what looks like the same stage. The RH in my grow area is 20-30% and surface drys super fast with lid off. I decided the other day to keep lid on loosely, keeping surface slightly damp. The plan is to remove lid once fully colonized. Seems to be doing well so far.

Thing is I chuck coir on thinking the myc was to wet, as if it was casing saw dust to soak up puke. 🤷🏻‍♂️ (impulsivity). Anyway I have left it as can be seen in the previous pics, with the lid slightly open (3mm gap).
I’m gonna leave it Like I should have done and breeeeeeaaath

Kratom is illegal in the UK.... need to research it.
I have just got some Petri dishes so I’m gonna see if I have work with some spores prints I have. I also have inoculated some albinos cubes too (PFTEK), to hopefully transfer In two other shoeboxes I have. I also need to play my guitar.... she gently weeps envious of the shrooms

Just quit fucking with it man it looks like it’s knotting, you’re gonna end up making it take longer messing with it all the time.

Hold up, no one has anything against crumbling DRY coir on top of a mostly colonized sub ?
Seems like a major no no.
OP you should probably give it a generous misting if you actually meant what you said. Like never-hydrated “dry”, right?

Man you gotta level or remove that coir, soak it, then put the whole thing away for a week.
Did you sandwich the spawn inbetween layers of coir or did it just grow like that??
Also what’s going on with that uncolonized spot on the side with all the rhizo? I had a spot like that and i couldn’t figure out why it was totally untouched, then realized im an idiot and it was coir that had gotten under the liner.

I’m spraying it lightly so as not to wet it as I was impulsive and through dry coir on it, but it has grow through it well as can be seen in previous pictures

the spawn started as 3x300ml BRF cakes that I crumbled into pea size and smaller and combined with ODFC coir, mixing the coir substrate and coir for about 20 mins and checked through the box that the spawn was well distributed throughout the coir.

That’s why I took a pic thinking the Shroomery community would be able to enlighten me. Maybe it is a coir that I missed when I though I was mixing thoroughly, That said though, it has got smaller in comparison to what it was.

Just make sure to keep an eye on surface conditions if you need to make adjustments or just waiting for sub/myc to absorb the excess moisture..
Shoeboxes are generally set and forget for the first flush if you get the right field capacity(slightly under is good) and a wetter micro-climate on top that should look like beading and small droplets interwoven on the Myc/substrate surface.
Surface Conditions Extensive Guide: How to Keep Those Surface Conditions Super Sexy Tek
Fav SFF Assembly shoebox Tek is in my signature w lot's of helpful images and lot's of useful info to save making mistakes.
Find a good guide/stick to it with a disciplined attitude if you want to make things work well. Over-thinking/giving in to your worries will only work against your progress. Just put in a tried and true Tek.. follow to the very word of instructions and you will have amazing results, I promise.

The initial field capacity was 1 or 2 drips. I think it was drying maybe, I have since sprayed and it looks like little beads as illustrated in the images on that link.
I will take some pics and upload shortly

This looks beady, I think... so I will keep an eye in that. I was hesitant to spray as it was “Set and Forget”. So clearly not, totally or at least in my case...
