Yeah it does seemed to be frowned upon but until I get into agar it's my chosen method and it's fast and I only lose 10% to contam and i quite like using MS as you get some funky shrooms and some mutant beasts!
I don't have a flowhood so if i'm doing agar in a SAB there is still the chance of contam.
Say I inject 20 jars or bags and lose 2 or 3, I can live with that.
I get the dove farm organic rye grain at £25 for a 25kg sack so it makes me 50 jars or bags. I'm only losing 50p per lost jar.
Anyway it outweighs me having to pay £10 a gram from some crappy dealer so my wife can microdose!

Dude, getting into agar is as simple as cooking it and putting some spores on it (look up Pasty plates). Then, you can use the colonised agar to inoculate your jars. If you do this, you never have to buy spores again, you can just expand the agar by cutting a small chunk out and dropping it onto another plate of agar.

I have 10 x MEA plates on their way to me from a friend so I'm not snubbing agar I just haven't tried it yet. Only been doing this the past 6 months.
I got given a PE swab and really want to grow them so decided to give agar a go.
Until I get confident with agar I'll be using MS to grain jars alongside because hey, it works for my situation and the results have been good.
No doubt I'll be posting a few questions what to actually do and what to look for on the plates once I've swabbed them.

Spore syringes are never clean as said, sometime you can get away with it but agar is always the way not just for clean spawn but one drop of spore syringe can be expanded massively.

We are such children
There are plenty of stables you can get it from as long as they dont use anti fungal treatment in the stable. They usually want you to have it if its for growing mushrooms as they like the idea and everyone ive met has been super interested, obviously with the thrown in joke 'U growing magics?' They laugh, I laugh I grab my bag of shit and grow Mushrooms to get fucked up on and then I really laugh.........lol
Otherwise there are certain times of the year the farmers mix it into the fields and you will see huge mounds of it on the side of country roads.
Lastly posh people sell bags of it outside their houses.....fuk that.

There are some well rotten manure at the local stables which is free to take but I wasn't sure if it's the stuff I need. I would prefer the dry horse nuggets though, it's easier to work with it but I hope this will be fine too. In the summer, I usually go around forests and pick dry horse manure nuggets, but It's too cold now for me to go out

Hey, new and just getting started.
Going to give the Uncle Ben's tek a try first time around, to avoid buying a PC.
Process (simplified) is innoc uncle ben's -> mix spawn 50:50 with coco coir -> transfer to tub?
any good/cheap wardrobes or cupboards for putting a few clear plastic tubs in and mounting a light/small heater?
I've got one, but its dimensions are awkward and won't fit any of the average storage boxes in it.
cheers

Hmmmm, I think I may just wait until the summer.
My old man lives in Canada and is visiting over here, a 21QT all american over there costs $390.00 Canadian which is £230.00.
https://good2goco.ca/collections/all-american-canner/products/921-pressure-cooker-21-quart
Wouldn't have to pay any delivery or taxes if he put it in his checked luggage (no doubt he'd be getting that bag searched on entry though, looks a bit sketchy).
They fit 7 quart/litre jars which is more than enough for me.

A pressure cooker may be dicey though trying to get it in luggage what with the nature of what it can be used terror and that. I know theyll open it and find nothing wrong but i dont know enough about customs whether theyll make him pay taxes once in uk or something but if it works its a good idea, you could get a few across and make a bit of cash if he brings one every visit, the mark up you could charge would be pretty good.

It'd be like the wolf of wall street but instead of cash I'll be having relatives fly over with 941's!
Seriously though, I looked on the TSA website which is probably the strictest and they specifically allow pressure cookers in checked luggage. I guess people like to cook when on holiday.
I'll just get him to stuff it with some of his clothes so it doesn't take up too much space. He wouldn't have to pay taxes though, he's bought loads of random stuff in the past and we always take English foods and items when we visit without any problems.

Sounds like a plan, if only he could make the trip weekly im sure theres plenty uk members who would be happy to get an AA without the massive amounts of taxes theyd have to pay shipping from the states. There is that prepayment thing i think cant remember what its called but its still expensive using that service.

I'll put a shout out on here when I'm heading over there next year. If i get one this summer when he visits and if these things are as good as they say then I won't need another one for the rest of my life so be happy to help another out and bring one back.

Okay well I can bring someone a Presto back if they want. Show me a new 23qt presto for sale in the UK that isn't over £150.00?
They sell in Canada for equivalent of £75.00.
