I predict that at most 5 years from now, the US army will have boots on the ground in Mexico.

The cartels have take over Mexico, they defeated the Mexican army once, they control cities, law enforcement is corrupt, political candidates get assassinated, they are fueling the opiod crisis, etc..
They no longer hold on to massive amount of cash, they now have legit investments in real estate, stocks and other assets. Not only in Mexico. The US also.
Idiot states that allow people to cross the US border illegally like California are helping the cartels to expand. Many cartel members now have children born in the US creating a 2nd generation of cartel members that are legal US citizens.
Shit is out of hand.
If the cartels are desssignate terrorists, the US will be able to do missile strikes and send in the troops.
Only problem with that is if they become terrorists, Mexican citizens will be able to seek asylum in the US with the reason that they are under threat by terrorists.
5 years maximum in my opinion.
Thoughts?

USA knows how to stop the cartels in their tracks . Legalize all drugs without discrimination as to which ones should remain illegal. USA is allowing this influx of drugs to invade the masses of the country voluntarily. They can end it like a light switch at any moment but they don't ... They probably make a shit to of money off the drug on wars and welcome the cartels thriving business model

Somebody's gonna have to do it. Mexico lost control. The cartels are a much bigger threat than ISIS and whoever is 12000km away.
They kill a fuck ton of people. Estimates are at 115000 casualties and there's no sign of it slowing down.
They had a Mexican President on their payroll at some point...
Let's face the pipedream here. Legalization is not happening in the US... Let's abandon that idea..

Yeah if we haven't threatened them by now we won't anytime soon. Last thing we need is them making an alliance with North Korea and starting a real war on domestic soil. Mexico didn't "lose control," they never had control on the first place

My humble opinion is the establishment is happy with Mexico the way it is. I think 2 things would trigger a war with Mexico. Abandoning the petrodollar or a strong alliance with China or Russia. Why did the establishment invade Iraq in 2003? Saddam Hussein wanted to trade oil for gold and euros. All of a sudden he is the mastermind of 911. We go to war and he is hung. Gaddafi wanted to create an African Union sell African natural resources. The establishment creates the “Arab Spring” Nato bombs Libya and Gaddafi is killed. Does anybody see a pattern or do I need to take my aluminum foil hat off.

I agree. We don't care about justice or fairness or even loss of life. We care about stability, and at the moment drugs are pretty much fueling our economy. Cartels are killing by the thousands but not us, and not anyone useful to us. We don't care if America bombs some shit hole with crazy ideals halfway across the earth. But our neighbors, that shit feels real. It's a hard sell to the American people

In the 70's, Mexico was a totally different place. The cartels have 100% taken over and destroyed that country. It wasn't always like that and I remember going there even in the 80s with my parents and not feeling afraid. Things have def changed in Mexico. Violence has gotten much worse. Why...is another question.

I've thought this before. It would definitely stop the cartels from making money on drugs. But after thinking about it longer I Start to wonder if it'll actually just make things worse in other ways. Like maybe they would just start trafficking more humans from the U.S. or something to make up for all the lost drug money? I don't know. Legalizing all drugs seems like it could be a good idea for a lot of reasons. It would make it safer for those who use and might actually decrease the amount of people who choose to use. You get rid of that whole forbidden fruit effect. But I feel there might be unsuspected consequences if it happens to fast. These cartels often times keep a close eye on thier clients-at least certain ones who end up getting heavily involved-and a lot of people might end up going missing without that financial source. It's definitely a complicated situation.
