Re-melting agar bottle in pot with boiling water

Can I re-melt MEA in this bottle ?
Once I PC it and pressure goes down I take it out and tighten the lid then into pot of boiled water with waterline just above agar in the bottle to cool to around 55c to pour, usually how I do it.
If I take the agar out the pc tighten lid and let set to be used next week say when I want to re-melt should I loosen the lid or keep it tight but thinking that could let it contaminates during the re-melting process... I've done it before with quart jars with a hole with poly fill so they can't explode anyway just a pain to pour plates with haha.
Any advice welcome

It’s fine lots of people do it.
I was told to store my unused agar at room temp.

Ime I used a microwave to remelt my agar with the lid on. It tend to expand n open up a bit. If you're quick with it the gas is only going out not in so shouldn't suck in contams. Ive used it like that afterwards with no issues. Safe bet would probably be to melt the majority of the agar. Let it cool a little (to avoid a boil over) and run it through the pc before it gets too close to gel stage. It doesnt take long to pc agar at all. This is probably overkill though

my microwave is too small so I do it this way personally, lid tightened with no problems. it just takes ~45 minutes to get it fully melted and you’ll have to top off your water a couple times most likely.

it’s a cheap amazon microwave haha. it’s the smallest one i’ve personally ever seen and was not expecting the size when I bought it. even after taking the spinning plate out i would still need an additional inch or so for the 500ml media bottle to stand up straight.. it’s annoying but it still reheats my leftovers

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a microwave that small.
Sounds like a perfect dorm room appliance.

I have to remove the turntable out of my microwave to fit agar bottles. I just ordered some 250ml bottles I'm hoping they are a little shorter but that's not why I'm downsizing.

eh, im usually never in a rush so doing it on the stove is fine. not having to babysit them to watch for boil over or worrying about them exploding is pretty nice as well.

What leads you to believe a microwave will make a media container with agar explode Either way works. Popping it in the microwave seems like less labor imo

I already had one of these which is not only good for distilling water but many other things when you need water\oils at a constant temperature.
https://www.amazon.com/Mophorn-Distillers-Countertop-Stainless-Distilling/dp/B07MMR32VK/ref=mp_s_a_1_21?keywords=water%2Bdistiller&qid=1578876378&sprefix=water%2Bdist&sr=8-21&th=1&psc=1
And I use the White one it's analog and more easily hacked for like hot "cooling" water for short path distilling...

I don't see any reason to re-melt it first before putting it in the PC. Either melt it in the microwave or on the stovetop, or throw it in the PC for 15 minutes. PC is my personal preference because I have had to clean boiled-over agar from the microwave one too many times.

A boil over is solely neglecting to be observant/aware. You'll learn how to guesstimate the rate the agar heats up from microwaves after a couple runs. Please dont let that discourage you from simplifying any work. Make errors and learn.
Straight to the pc would be your best bet
* this is an assumption based off of personal observation I dont have several 100+ cycles under my belt or anything like that* Not a very high risk of contams any of these ways. If you read through all of the no mod lid tek very rarely are you going to get contams that will go in and up through the threads then manage to fall into your container. When you heat it up it will be pushing some positive pressure which would make it even less likely.
PC safest most "time consuming" Or Any other of the 3 ways Rido listed

To clarify, I use an instant pot to PC agar, so it's an extremely hands-off solution for when I don't want to babysit the microwave. I completely agree that the boil over is due entirely to neglect - guilty as charged!

It's already been pressure cooked and then left to set, I would need to pc it again to melt or microwave?
