Noise cancelling headphones while tripping.
    #26427071 - 01/10/20 06:38 PM (4 years, 1 month ago)

I got some Bose QC15s super cheap today, and It is wild how much detail they have and how much better than they work than all the other beats and stuff I used to have and thought were amazing. might have to upgrade to an audiophile set up as even on a light amount of shrooms it seems as if i'm in heaven with these acoustics. I can't wait to get into a place where i'm going to settle down for a minute to get another nice sound system, but these are inspiring me to drop some decent money on an audiophile grade headphone set up with a tube amplifier like i've wanted for some time. What are you guys using? I imagine it would be a fairly common thing here.

I've got these - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00005N9D3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They work pretty well for being cheap, and has nice bass. Definitely prefer over the ear headphones, and can't stand earbuds.

Though should mention that the ones i have i bent a little so that it has a tighter grip and more fully cups the ears.

I’m using these. Best earphones (not over-ear) on the market, they’re amazing

not an in ear fan myself, never can get them to stay right, but I have always wanted some sennheisers, when I managed a pawn shop we had a few pairs that were absolutely amazing but they were the giant audio jacks and I don't feel like using inverters to get the 1.5mm or whatever jack I need

The best (professional) over-ear sennheisers are transcendant but they’re ridiculously expensive ($1000s)

I got the Bose Soundlink II around ear headphones a few years back. Cost me a few hundred quid, but get this......

I bought the wrong ones! Mine are the passive noise cancelling headphones; not the active, which were another hundred quid.

Having said that , I’m usually alone tripping, and the sound quality is awesome.

But then having said that, I bought myself a Bowers and Wilkins Zeppelin Bluetooth speaker which again is awesome. Generally play my soundsnthrough that these days, reserving the headphones for those times when there are other people in the house; I’ll keep myself in the conservatory, doors shut, and headphones on.

If only I was rich, I’d have upgraded to the active noise-cancelling headphones a couple of years Back!!!

I just purchased the Cowin E7 noise cancellation headphones on Amazon. I bought a pair of overear beats for $400 like 6 years ago. They lasted a long while, but eventually started to fall apart as I wore them when  I would workout.

Anyway, with saving for a house and buying some new. backpacking gear, I'm all for budget spending. I'm okay with not having brand name. Some things are worth not cheaping out on, but you can find decent headphones for a third of the price of some name brand headphones with the same sound quality!

I purchased these headphones and they're going to work great for what I need them for. I'm very excited to dose and listen to some music. Its definitely a different type of vibe. Has been awhile since I've been able to use these types of headphones.. and they're really good at cancelling out everything else and putting you right in the moment.

Oh, and they were only $50! I refuse to spend $400+ again on headphones.

Usually with headphones when you get to that price range you are paying more for the brand name and fancy (or weird) design  than for the actual headphones themselves.

I can't seem to enjoy using headphones, it makes me feel unaware of what is happening around me (especially when tripping). Sound from speakers seems more natural to me

Speakers are great sober but I feel like I need headphones to fully immerse myself in the world of music while tripping

Yup, same here. There was a time that i used to use my surround sound system while experimenting with Aya, but after awhile i realized headphones were so much better, able to fully immerse myself into the Aya realm and internal realms, not bothering anyone with the music i play, as well as tuning out external sound, headphones are much preferred, but sound systems can be cool too, but headphones imo are better.

Agree with you both, there. Using headphones is a totally immersive experience. However, I do prefer the ”freedom” of using the stereo. With eyes closed, the experience can be equally immersive.

Additionally, I’ve managed to encourage a good mate to trip with me in the near future. We’ll be having the speaker on 👊🏻

I have a pair of Bose QC25's that are phenomenal-- very clear and "whole" sound. I love using them during my sessions-- I also have a pair of bluetooth Sony WH-1000XM2's that are very good-- being wireless is a lot better for moving around, and the bass response is a bit better, but they aren't quite as comfortable as the Bose.

The noise cancellation feels a bit better on the Bose, but it's subjective.

My BOSE are passive noise cancelling! I got that wrong! But yeah the sound is awesome, and they are comfortable. Sometimes though my ears get sweaty and that starts to irritate after a while. I’ll take them off for a brief respite then put them back on, but then that detracts from the immersiveness, if that makes sense?

It would be nice to have active noise cancellation, if only to block out next door’s “handbag dogs”!

Much love
