Monotubs only fruiting around the edges

This is my first post so I'd firstly like to thank everyone whose fantastic advice I have followed from the shadows until now.
As the heading suggests, I have graduated to growing using monotubs.
I spawn on rye grain and use a coir/HP based bulk substrate (I can provide more details if anyone think this is where the problem lies.
I have never had any issues getting the tubs fully colonised. The tubs themselves have holes slighly above the blacked out 2 odd inches as well as near the top of the tubs. I use micro-fibre tape to seal the holes with a thicker covering on the bottom holes to facilitate air flows.
The tub temp is kept steady in the ranges advised using temp controlled heat mats.
When the tubs fruit, it is always around the side of the tubs and I can't seem to get a 'blanket' over the full surface area.
Has anyone else had this issue? How did you remedy the problem?
I'd be very grateful for any ideas or advice.
Many thanks,
PK

Sounds like moisture/air issues but I’ll wait for somebody who knows monos. I’m interested in this as well I’m about to get into large tubs myself.

Ditch the heating mats. They hurt more than they help. Heat the room instead with a small space heater if needed. High 60's to low 70's is fine for fruiting.
As for the pin set, reduce FAE while waiting for pins. They need lots of moisture at first. Hear is what the surface should look like...

Little beads across the surface. So more tape before pins, less tape after the pinset is in.

Thanks Weavie. I'll definitely try my next tubs without the mats. I tend to heat the house to around the high 60's so the room is thereabouts in terms of ambient temperature. I forgot to mention that I use a light on a 12 on/12 off cycle. But as this is my bedroom it isn't always an exact science.

The heating pad might be throwing it all off. You might be pretty close, but local heat like that is a major no no and was ditched decades ago.

Thanks. That's 2 out of 2 for ditching the mats.
Much appreciated.
