Help In Healing Trauma From LSD Experience at 16 Years Old
    #26427392 - 01/10/20 11:02 PM (4 years, 18 days ago)

When I was 16 years old I took two hits of LSD. It was horrible. I had never felt such absolute terror in my entire life. It completely shattered me. Afterward, for 8 years I lived in an odd form of depression, anxiety, OCD, and PTSD. I was able to graduate from college and maintain something of a social life. At age 22 I began a silent form of prayer/meditation and added a steady diet of fasting until 6pm every day. Over the next two years (fasting off and on) weird phenomenon began occurring. Eventually, I started hallucinating visually and felt like I was on a combination of LSD and MDMA for days. I couldn't sleep and felt like I was vibrating all the time. This would have been enjoyable except for the amount of fear, migraines, night terrors, and panic attacks. Shortly after, I was diagnosed with Bipolar I and Psychosis. I was prescribed Olanzapine (Zyprexa) and over the course of two years raised my dose from 2.5mg to 10mg. As I write this post, I am currently on 10mg of Olanzapine and started reading The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel Van Der Kolk. Based on his work, I have realized that the anti-psychotic I am on is only dulling the symptoms of my trauma and not actually engaging with or processing my trauma. I see a therapist (have had 55 sessions) and during my last session decided to open up about my LSD experience. We didn't delve in too deeply yet but I know we will. The next day, my psychiatrist told me we need to start talking about coming off of the anti-psychotic. I am open to dealing with the trauma of that experience. I am seeking insight or advice about how to process something like this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If you need more information, let me know and I will provide it. Thanks for reading!
tl:dr = Took LSD, Freaked Out, Need Help.

Sounds like you're on the right path as it is. Keep at the therapy, keep reading amazing literature like that book, get off the pharma poison.

Include meditating, exercising, eating like a saint. Make sure your routine is good and work to get to the bottom of this thing!

I wish you love and luck on the journey. Now all you have to do is work hard!!

You’re on the right path, don’t get overwhelmed with what “may happen” once in the meds and processing.

Keep this healing attitude and you’ll do great.

The misconception when the community talks about risk factors, it's not a trigger. It's a sensory experience. By that I mean, instead of pressing the Big Button it's actually unvieling what you couldn't perceive previously. People aren't having mental health issues due the drug it's everything else that preceded it that's the problem. Like a medical diagnostic tool for the mind, but you need to know how to use it so people seek guidance from the All, or they seek guidance from the many. You sound on the right path, but I wonder if you've considered facing your fears? They often aren't as mighty as the memories they represent to us

Are you suggesting that this person should invest lsd again? I would not suggest that if you have mental health issues.
