computer question 1

i prefer to have a laptop with a detachable battery for traveling purposes. My 2013 samsung is on its way out, but i have 4 spare batteries for it and two power adapters.
would it be better to buy an identical model off ebay for 100 bucks (i have decent experience swapping out laptop parts if need be), or spend about 4-500 for one of the newer models with the non-detachable battery which supposedly gets a lot more battery life per cycle? Thank you kindly
also, where can i find a nice shrubbery? thanks

Id say its always a good idea to upgrade your computer to the latest model you can afford.
However either option will work fine
Any idea what kind of newer laptop u would buy if u went the "upgrade" route?

If you're running Linux you can just get another old one in good condition and roll with it, but if you're running Windows you'll find architecture support may be an issue going into the future so you'd be better off getting a newer model. Horses for courses.

my current model has been running smooth with windows 10 for about a year and a half, so i expect to install it on the spare laptop if i go that route. A couple of the newer models i've been looking at are the Lenovo Ideapad S340 and the HP with 15" screen.

Might as well buy a newer laptop. Look into getting some power banks since that's a more modernized version of swapping out batteries. Some of them are solar powered which is probably ideal for what you do.
The link is just an example. There's probably better power banks specifically made to charge laptops

Yeah over that timespan there have been huge advances in processor power efficiency. You can get a $200 thin and light laptop that lasts all day if you don't crank the screen brightness (though at that price it will be built to fall apart.) So 4-500 seems reasonable for something with comparable battery life but better built and better performing.

I recommend going with a newer Dell. They're reliable as hell and they offer external power banks now. I like em so much I just shelled out over three grand on their top of the line offering:

It's a fucking beast. Took me ages to decide on the best configuration but I should see 10 hours battery life given that I went for the lower res screen and run it at minimum brightness.

Yeah, Dell was the pick of the bunch in this last year, particularly the Latitude 7400. I just have a few left to get out the door now.

No I couldn't tell if you were being sarcastic when you said they were popular and you only have a few left to get out the door. Could be taken as that you have quite a few left and nobody wants them, or that they really are popular and that's a few left relative to the total volume.
I like the photo with the Shroomery on the monitor though.
