A lesson in Patience, Nuturing and Learning.
    #26424676 - 01/09/20 01:17 PM (4 years, 20 days ago)

So I ordered a small pre-colonized grow "kit". It's just a small plastic container of spawned substrate. It is growing VERY slow. Temps at 72-77 and indirect natural sunlight.

It has looked like this for 3 days...

edit: see the full story below. Updates will be posted every 3 days.

I wouldn't expect more than a single dose from that thing though it looks very small...

Oh yea there are a bunch of knots, just progressing very slow. It is only supposed to yield 3-6 grams. We'll see.

Definitely primordia, and patience is definitely a virtue! You'll likely have some mature  mushrooms in a week. If you mean the small white balls you see haven't changed in 3 days, then something may be wrong (eg bacteria causing them to abort).

I see tons of knots and like 10 - 20 pins about the size of a pen head.  You're good to go.  You'll have shrooms in no time.

Are you planning to eat them fresh or dry them out? Remember that shrooms are 90% water.  So one gram fresh is .1 gram dried.

🍻 cheers!

Sounds like you learned a valuable lesson from it at least. Looks like you'll get something out of it, even if it's a single dose.

At least you ordered precolonized shit, that’s the only kind of grow kit that should be sold

I'll be drying them.
Seller said it should yield 3-6 dried.

Just a little back story on this kit and the current state of it.

I had a heater malfunction and the temps got up to 111 degree Fahrenheit for a out 6 hours.

That was before I pulled it out to start fruiting.
Then the pins started, which is the picture you see above.
Nothing changed for 5 days, so I mixed it up and put it back into incubation.
Now the myc is thriving and it looks even better than before.

I'll post pics in a few days.
Crazy fun learning experience and experiment in going from pinning back to colonizing. Pretty amazing how resilient this fungi is!

BTW it's B+.

Update on my my Tiny Grow Kit!! [Re: Myco_sporesworth]
    #26437906 - 01/17/20 06:35 AM (4 years, 12 days ago)

Update 4 days after mixing stalled pins and incubation.

The myc has bounced back strong and I put it in a shoebox with some perlite. Looking good!
