refrigerate to Delay BRF Cakes fruiting

Here is the scenario, I am going to follow this
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/26009662
I have three BRF cakes dunking in the fridge, I am awaiting the delivery of the shoeboxes, by sat.
Can I keep the cakes in the fridge in the water and cool, to delay the fruiting process?

Good call on using that TEK. It really is awesome If it was me, I'd go ahead and dump the water off Keeping things in the fridge will at least slow the growth if not stop it but you're only talking 2 days until you get the shoeboxes so you might consider draining them, putting the lid you used during colonization back on and keeping them at room temp in the jars until the can go in the shoebox.
How about some pics of those jars?

The jars didn't have lids, just foil. Do I put new foil on, or use the original jars lids prior to inoculation. They are like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nutleys-324ml-Mouth-Clear-Gingham/dp/B00EVVUHFM/ref=asc_df_B00EVVUHFM/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=205253207733&hvpos=1o2&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2303437190187986983&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9045849&hvtargid=pla-358720038645&psc=1&th=1&psc=1

Interesting, never heard of just using foil. Did you poke holes in it or use a layer of verm on top of the cake? Do they have a cover on while in the fridge?
I prefer hammering a hole in the lid with a screwdriver and covering it with 2 layers of micro-pore tape. Still needs covered in foil when PCing though
Yes, I would cover them if you take them out of the fridge just to keep the moisture in and keep anything else out

Like this https://www.mediamatic.net/image/2016/12/14/dsc06837.jpg%28mediaclass-full-width.c3083fedae46a95f1139ff9d5833b1b6b8e20a69%29.jpg
I used autoclave tape though instead of elastic band. After a couple of days when I seeing about 2.5 weeks growth, I used a needle to poke holes in the foil for ai.
They have two alcohol wiped plates on top of them, the bowl full to the brim with water.
I think leaving them in there in the cold water and fridge will help to delay fruiting I think

If you use a verm layer on top of the cake it acts like a filter and you can put holes in the foil after they're PC'd Keeping them sealed 2.5 wks might not let them have enough gas exchange Some have soaked for too long and things get water logged or start to fall apart. I believe most recommend soaking for 24 hrs or less

Yeah that's what I did.
So, I could put them in the jars again, but with lids and then maybe put them in a black bin liner to make sure no light gets to them so they don't pin. One cake already started pinning in vitro, prior to dunking anyway

You can put them back in jars or anything else really, just keep them covered so they aren't drying out and don't worry about blocking the light. Light isn't a pinning trigger anyway, in fact, it's considered good for myc at all stages of growth
When I used cakes, I would add water to the jar and soak them. That way you aren't handling them more than necessary.
You're on the right track, there are a lot of different factors, options, and opinions. You'll find that most work, some better than others but mostly it's a matter of personal preference
