"Blue Nips" Strain? PICS
    #26424106 - 01/09/20 08:00 AM (4 years, 20 days ago)

Hey guys,

I got told these were called "Blue Nips".  I have no idea where they came from... but they do look nice! Slow colonisation, but great pinset.

Searching online I can find no info on "blue nips". Perhaps it's just a mislabelled strain? Anyone else had anything like these?  They seem like a much taller version of Albino Penis Envy grows I've seen before.

I’d be surprised if you get a more specific answer..

Not an albino cross as there is a tad bit of purple on the caps in the last pic
on the mature mushrooms in the back.

Looks like aa+, lgt, or reverted rw but definitely not an albino cross

The caps are much bluer than AA+ and LGT pics that I've been able to find.

What is "Reverted rw" ?

Your tub is dry as hell, probably why your caps are blue. The cracked mottled look
to the center of lots of your caps is a clear indicator of dry conditions.

Rw is a leucistic strain with brown spores but its known to revert back to purple
spores every once in a while

Interesting, I thought it was a little too wet!

I thought the fact the strain was suppsoed to be called "blue nips" would be the reason the caps are blue.  I'll mist a little extra though.

I have noticed, even the tiny pins are very blue though, which I haven't seen in many other photos.

Possible but lots of your caps are showing signs of being dry. That mottled
appearance is usually tell tale.

Of course I could very well be wrong, but in my experience most leucistic/albino
varieties bruise a little blue in the caps regardless of conditions:shrug:

But you said it’s not an albino variety?

Its not, its leucistic. Im just saying that leucistic and albino varieties tend to
bruise on the caps regardless of conditions

Me too! which is why I was so interested in these.  I've not seen a bleached cube with a blue top before, except for APE - which are usually short and squat.

Thanks for the input guys!

Wow, those are crazy blue! Nice pic, thx. I guess someone just came up with a silly name for the strain I have somewhere along the line, since it doesn't seem to appear anywhere online and nobody seems to  know it

Are these type typically any stronger than regular cubes (As per APE) or are they just blue because of the lack of other coloring?

I thought the sub looked soaked, hence the super fuzzy feet. Natedawg is definitely more experienced than i am though. Those fruits are really pretty, if you decide to make some prints, let me know!

Fuzzy feet from a super wet and stagnant tub look like spikes coming off the stems.
Sometimes tubs just have fuzzy feet regardless of how much fresh air they have.

Again though I could be wrong but anytime my caps have looked like ops it was because
of dry conditions.
