Any city these days will have a ton of entry level IT jobs. I think it would be madness to move based on that requirement.

Now if you were talking high level/niche IT jobs (such as my own) then one HAS to go to whichever country/city offers said niche opportunity.

But entry level IT is required in every single office building you lay eyes on...

I've seen help desk jobs paying minimum wage and asking for a 4 year over here... meanwhile if you look at entry level IT in Portland or Austin it's a whole different story :frown:

Austin/Texas will be next for legal weed. Austin is a pretty cool place, trendy as of late, but it's a neat place. Plus there's Hippy Hollow out there.

Have you considered that the cost of living will probably be significantly higher in these places too?

Yep. Austin is the most expensive city in Texas, by far. Austin sucks right now anyway.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the states when and if the federal government legalizes weed. States will still be free to keep it illegal and there are a lot of places where the police and courts are mainly funded through fines and fees, and giving up the revenue earned by sticking it to pot smokers may be a hard hurdle to overcome. Law enforcement is a powerful lobby and keeping weed illegal is about job security to them.

Lots of cities now how minimum wages significantly higher than the federal level or even the level of  the state they are in.

Some cities have a minimum wage of $15 or higher in 2020.  NYC. DC. San Francisco. Seattle.

It could grow outside and in the ground for 10-11 months a year. I think they will do it eventually, the whole USA will.

Private employers have already adopted; prescreen to satisfy the insurance companies and then nothing unless you document a history of suspected intoxicstion. Used to be 5 years ago that if you fell asleep at the desk or slipped in the parking lot you had to pee.

Govt union hasn't had pee tests in a while.

Now if you're driving, operating heavy machinery, working at the airport or a defense contractor you might still be subject to random screens....

But my first and second point apply to IT jobs. Also worth noting big companies comply and tailor their policy to the least common denominator, so if they have offices in Colorado they've already complied.

San Francisco and San Jose area. It's expensive to live here so you might have to find a roomie and/or get a 2nd job until you are higher than entry level.

What do you want to work towards or what is your dream IT job. That probably matters more than who has entry level openings.

Weed is an annual plant that requires long summer days to grow properly outside. I don’t think you could grow it outside in the winter - even in a warm climate because the vegetative growth phase requires less than 12 hours of darkness.

Well no, you can flower outside.
Most outdoor growers start seeds/clones indoors, in the winter, so that they have something ready for flowering by the time it gets warm.

Honestly for most people windows is the way to go. Linux is not worth the trouble unless you have a very good reason for using it. Plus there are some things windows trumps Linux at, like gaming for example.

And installing malware, Windows is unparalleled at that.

California has housing issues that go beyond the normal regional variations in cost of living.

Well, I have grown it outside in the ground from seed in both Oklahoma and Texas. Shit was awesome too. Planted in Feb one time in Texas, it snowed a bit one night and it lived. It grows really well in those parts. FT WT and SE OK, probably Austin and near the coast too.

Yeah, but it's really not as bad as it seems. You get a higher wage here than most places and that mostly makes up for it. If you can live here and get ahead and eventually buy property and a house then you are set and can go anywhere from here.

I looked. It's a lot better in Portland and Aurora for sure.

February is a month away from having 12 hour+ days. By the time the seedlings are ready for vegatative growth, the amount of daylight would be appropriate. Plant in October and you’ve got three months with immature plants in flower.
