Growkit 1st Week - White Fuzz!!! Please help

Hi Guys,
I have been waiting 1 week for the pins to form but they havent formed.
The growkit have been sealed with the safety clips for a week now without opening (instructions says no need to air , only need CO2 before pins come up, only air after pins formed)
However there are these fuzzy white stuff formed at the top layer, should i be worried? Should i start airing them? (Although no pins yet)

Thanks alot guys!

I don't know your setup, but that looks like mycelium. If that bag has a filter, just leave it be. Will probably take another week for pins if I had to throw a wild guess at your setup/conditions. That surface doesn't look too colonized..
The nature of kits is a guessing game, so good luck.

Do you think its just the Mycellium trying to colonize the top layer?

Yes. I don't use verm anymore, but when I did, this is what it would look like. I also just saw you are using clips on this bag. Maybe loosen the opening a little to allow some more FAE (even though you read you don't need to). Just not too much that you dry out the sub. Otherwise, leave it be

I’m not sure how that cake is set up but it looks like it’ll be a while still before you see pins.
There could be a bunch of knots hidden under the surface but that mycelium doesn’t look like it’s in fruiting yet.

Fresh air is a pinning trigger. You don't need a lot of it during colonization but it needs some gas exchange. When it's colonized and you give it fae that's when you can start waiting for pins. At that point it usually happens around 8-10 days for me.
It sounds like they want you to keep it sealed up until it has no choice but to pin like when agar sits too long. That's not how I would go about it but I've never bought a kit so idk how it's supposed to perform. If the top is startng to colonize like that then yes I would give it fae. See what a TC thinks before you do anything. You want it to start pinning bc you've given it proper conditions, but if you keep it sealed up it will try to fruit eventually out of desperation. It will take longer and that's more time for something to go wrong.
Can you show us a little more of how this kit is supposed to work? Is that white thing an air filter of some kind or a big zipper? I haven't seen a bag kit like that before I usually see the little box kits.

Hi there,
The white stripes on the bag are air ventilators so i assume it allows for some fresh air exchange while it is completely sealed for 1-2 weeks to wait for pinnings.
In the beginning when i started my growkit,i used a fork to poke many holes to allow water- but i might have poked too deep (all the way down) i soaked it in water for 1 hour, pour it out and then put it inside this bag, filled the bottom bag with some water and sealed it with paper clips. It has been 1 week now.
My biggest worry is that those white fuzz are mould or contamination. happy to hear that its just mycellium.
Should i open the bag to air it ?

Did the kit come preinoculated\fully colonized? One week from noc is on the early side to see pinning. Not impossible but not so long as to worry. I have a feeling the white stripe is more for GE than FAE. During colonization, you need a much tighter filter than fruiting and that FAE is a big trigger for pinning. As others have said, without knowing the procedure for that kit I can only guess. I think you best plan of action at this point is wait and see.

Growkits should be fully colonized (Although i might have poked the mycellium too deeply in the beggining- could have damaged it)
Should i wait for awhile more or open it to air a little?

Ah, gotcha. I have seen some kits that are everything but the spore which are to be bought separately then used to noc the kit. Never used a kit so only going off what I have seen\read on here. At this point all you have to go on is the instructions that came with the kit so I am hesitant to tell you to no follow that info with out having personal experience with it. I can't say for sure of that is the growth you want or not from the pic but I can say that 1 week is not out of the ordinary by any means. Patience is a must in this hobby. Play the waiting game a bit longer and see what happens. If it is a contam, nothing you do at this point will affect the outcome so see how it plays out.

I am a bit confused by the fork part though. Why did it have you poke it with a fork?

I dont think you should have poked it at all anyways but shouldn't be too bad hopefully. There's so many crazy things to me. Did the growkit say to put it in a bag with water? Just sounds really weird to me. I wish I had more advice for you man. Hopefully a TC will chime in.

I think the fork part was to make loosen the substrate to have more water when i soak it for 1 hour.
Yes water in the bag sealed to wait for pins to appear.
SO white fuzz is normal for you guys? Do you guys experience white fuzz when you wait for your pins?
