Want to trip again

It's been several years since my last mushroom trip. It was a not a pleasant trip. I attribute that to either my awful trip sitter or that i was told i was getting 3.5g and was probably closer to 5g. Which i was told by my sitter after i was already in my come up. I am still fascinated by shrooms but that experience was off putting. I would really like to try them again as I am in a much better place in life. How should i go about this? What dose should i go with?

Not any old person will make a good trip sitter, they need to understand everything that could happen and be a chilled, self-controlled confident happy person.
I asked one of my closest friends to trip sit my first time, but his lack of knowledge and unwillingness to learn anything about shrooms put me right off... So I just went at it alone and don't regret it at all it was an awesome first experience for me.
You should trust your sources that your getting a quality product, always weigh that shit out and know exactly what your putting in your body, he could have gave you 14grams and you would have just consumed it without weighing it pretty dangerous stuff my friend.
WAIT until you've created the perfect environment to take the shrooms, some people can get so exited and rush into things without having a good set/setting thinking no matter what it will be a fun time... Make sure you have atleast a full day or two of free time and do it somewhere your familiar/comfortable.
Have your favourite beverages at hand, music playlists etc. Seeing as you had a bad experience on 3.5 - 5.0g I'd recommend trying a 1.5 - 2.0g dose enough to get some effect and also stay in control

Something doesn’t feel right, pal. You didn’t like the trip, you didn’t like the trip sitter, and you didn’t trust the person who ‘gave’ you the shrooms.
Why do you think it would be better now?
I think you need to trip alone. So I recommend if you do go ahead, you need a lower dose. Try 2g maybe 2.5g. Get some scales and weigh them yourself. Consider even growing them yourself then there are no paranoia issues over what you have ingested. Get a nice music playlist ready, some toys, maybe a mirror, some flowers, some nice incense, and go for it.
If the trip is rewarding, consider what the set and setting fundamentals have taught you. Then maybe consider, after an integration phase, of trying 3.5g again. Everyone is different, and every mushroom is different: so you may have had an unusually potent batch. I cannot believe for a second that someone would ‘give’ you more than they said. Think about that.
And finally, if you do use a sitter; they simply MUST be someone you really trust.
Hope this helps, DJ ed

Deff start with 2g. There’s things 2g will teach you that 3.5 won’t.
And stop looking for a sitter. Start looking for a traveling buddy!! The synchronicity of mushrooms will blow your mind...
Or trip alone and let the mushrooms guide you

Wise words. My first experiences were always with someone, and generally my travelling buddy. We both had really bad trips, I gave up psychedelics, his mum died, he became paranoid schizophrenic. Then was beaten to death about 15 years later. That was 15 years ago. I’ve missed him for 30 years since he became schizophrenic.
But I returned to psychedelics nearly 4 years ago. And I now meet my old buddy again, in thenheadspace, in the ether, I feel his energy, I know he’s there, it’s eternal.

I'd suggest starting out with half a gram of cubes. From my experiences thats about the minimum dose required to feel noticeable effects. Recently introduced two of my friends to mushrooms at this dose, one enjoyed it immensely, the other wasn't enjoying the effects but was able to ride it out without too much discomfort.
Theres no such thing as taking too little. If you feel underwhelmed with the experience smoke some pot (if available), and if it ends and you feel the desire to experience more bring it up to 1-1.5gs in a week or two. I always suggest that people take very very low doses when trying a substance for their first time/after a leave of absence, best way to ensure you have an enjoyable time.

What a painful story man, sorry to hear that bout your buddy.
I had one in HS but went overseas for a couple of years and lost touch. Been looking for him since I got back 2 years ago. Reading this makes me wanna start looking for him again...where you at Mr. Kramer?!?! But yeah, at least 2-3 times per trip, I get melancholy wishing he were here for this.

Welcome to Shroomery! The best way to get your hands on some mushrooms is to grow them yourself.
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/24420178#24420178 This is a good staring point if that sounds interesting to you.
As far as dose goes; everyone is different and every batch of mushrooms is different so you have to find what works best for you. Start at what ever dose you feel comfortable with and work your way up every trip until you find the sweet spot.

If you have any cultivation questions we would be happy to point you in the right direction! Best of luck on your journey!

Hey pal, loads of friggin’ love to you ✊🏻 I’m so melancholy. I’m still trying to understand my depression. I’m convinced I’ve had it since I was 8. But I have so much hope and optimism, and I am discovering a wealth of emotions in me. It’s beautiful, man.
I have loved and lost so many friends, you wouldn’t believe it. Then I lost my daughter 20 years ago. Then 4 years ago I lost my fucking dog; bled to death in my arms. I’m convinced, and I really sincerely hope nobody takes offence from this, but I’m convinced I have PTSD from my dogs death. I still cry every time I walk near where he died. I have had some great friends, but ten years ago when my depression came to a head (yeah, tried hangin myself, went on SSRIs), I got a dog. Honest man, there is no better friend a man can have than the friendship of a dog. They love you unconditionally.
And to lighten the tone, because as I said I have renewed hope in my life (took me until I am 53 lol), here’s a joke: if you want to find out who loves you more, your SO, your best mate, or your dog; lock them all in the boot of your car for an hour nd see which one is most pleased to see you......

The "what dose" question is asked often and difficult to accurately answer. This is because potency varies between mushrooms, people are affected differently/have different levels of natural tolerance, and so forth.
However, here are my suggestions:
(IF you have psilocybe cubensis species and they are of average potency. Otherwise you will have to adjust dosage for strength, species and your natural tolerance or lack thereof)
1.5g if you want a mellow dose. This level will give you some CEV's, some body load, will have a shorter peak and you'll be just about fully functional.
3-3.5g if you want a more profound dose. At this level you'll get CEV's, possible OEV's or at the least distortion of objects, breathing walls. You may be flooded with a kaleidoscope of emotions, the body load will be pretty heavy. There may be moments of pure enlightenment and there may be some moments of confusion or terror. This is the dose I've generally stuck to (was also my first dose) and it was incredibly profound. I recommend this dosage to start.
(Disclaimer: Everyone is affected differently. The information above is based on my experience and may not work for you.)

Damn man, that must be beyond tough. I can’t even imagine. Really glad to hear you’re still able to see the beauty in life after everything. That takes a kind of strength most people lack..
And yeah, no ones ever gonna love you like your dog. You can come home at 3am, looking like a drunk hobo and your dog is gonna be waggin his tail at the door like “finally! I missed you! You da bestest”. Rolf try that one with your SO!!
P.S. I’m no guru, but if someone DMs me when they feel depressed, I’d gladly shoot the shit. I am, allegedly, a dank listener.

You’re a real gent, feldman114. Thank you.
I’ll be honest, it’s been a struggle, but mushrooms are opening me up. A year ago I travelled back in time during a trip, and spent two or three hours as I was when I was 20 years old. I was completely depression free for 11 months after that one trip and dint dose during it. So yeah, life is for living, it’s getting better everyday, and the shroomery is wonderful, so much kinship.
Take care, DJ Ed
