Cooking for other people. 3

I genuinely enjoy cooking for other people.
What sparked this discussion was my Korean bodega owner. I've been going there for years, especially when I was full blown alcoholic and this Korean dude would always joke with me and say, "You drink too much!!!" in a thick Korean accent. I'd reply, "Yeah you talk too much, shut the fuck up", and him and his wife would laugh. I used to live right across the street from them and when I'd cook big meals I'd run some down to them, and they'd reciprocate.
He passed away a couple months ago and I made his family a big lasagna, which they LOVED. Since then his wife and kids and I have been trading food back and forth, she recently made me a huge batch of kimchi and some Korean mungbean pancakes (Bindaetteok) which look delicious.
It's my turn and I'm trying to decide something good to make them. I've made her kimchi before and she said it was spot on, definitely an ego boost.

I somewhat enjoy cooking for myself- I find it therapeutic.
But I LOVE cooking for others. Feels good. Plus if it’s a house/dinner party type situation I like spending most of that time in the kitchen or at least have an excuse to walk away from an uncomfortable or forced conversation- not something I am good at or really enjoy.

I honestly usually only cook for other people. If it's just me eating I'll eat leftovers or fast food or something microwaveable most of the time. You know aside from specific cravings I get.
The only time I really feel like putting in all the effort if cooking a full meal, is when someone else is gonna be eating it too.

With my face against the floor I can’t see who knocked me out of the way. I don’t want to get back up but I have to so it might as well be today. Nothing appeals to me no one feels like me, I’m too busy being calm to disappear. I’m in no shape to be alone contrary to the shit that you might hear. You can't wake up, this is not a dream. You're part of a machine, you are not a human being With your face all made up, living on a screen. Low on self esteem, so you run on gasoline

The only difference in effort I've noticed is my attention to food safety while cooking. When I'm cooking for myself I don't wash my hands as often. I take more risks. Raw chicken? Quick rinse then back to work. Cooking for others? Soap, scrub, rinse, dry, repeat.
