Unfortunately I've got some wispy white contam covering the top of my mono. Pins just started popping. You think I'm safe to use a little hydrogen peroxide sprayed onto the surface? How often would you recommend?

I just read something the other day Bod said about Hydrogen peroxide
Quote:
bodhisatta said: It will set mycelium back giving contamination opportunity to grow. Peroxide is useless. If you have cobweb mold in the first place your growing conditions are abysmal and need fixing. Peroxide is absolutely useless for first aid as well. It doesn't belong in the home. It penetrates teeth and can harm the cells inside. Etc... It's not worth owning a bottle
for what it's worth

There is no cure for contamination. There us only prevention.
Contamination grows through the substrate, not on it. Peroxide is worthless in this hobby.

You want a chlorine spray. Try this https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/23653379 Unless you mean cobwebby whispy growth and then probably during or after this flush you are fucked. Pictures really help here.

I put a shroomy into pure H2O2 the other day and watched it almost explode!
That stuff kills all living tissue!!

No, you dont. Even a chlorine spray isn't going to penetrate the thickness of that mold colonization. Its not a surface problem. The mold has colonized the substrate below it.

Have we worked out thats what it is? Chlorine spray is for bacteria but doesnt harm the mycellium, but as said if its something like cobweb mould its a case of getting as much out of it as you can before trashing it.
