More Sierra mushrooms
    #26422622 - 01/08/20 09:55 AM (4 years, 21 days ago)

I think the first one is some kind of Russula past it’s prime. Found growing out of the duff around 10 ft from an oak tree on its own.. Gills are whitish yellow and deep. Cap is red/orange and depressed. Stem is huge and Tough feeling. Spore print pending. Smells sweet/peppery maybe? Hard to describe but it’s unique.

Second one found growing in the dirt/duff under more oaks. Maybe some kind of Amanita? In a group of 5-10 in a small cluster. Biggest one is huge, easily 12-14 inch tall. Waxy yellowish cap that is also quite large. Scales in the center of the cap. Stem is thick and Fiberous, reminants of a partial veil. Bulb at the base but no distinct volva. Smells earthy but not distinct.

Russula and Amanita,  could be A. gemmata or A. citrina
