Culture advice please: which plate looks best for making blender LI?
    #26422570 - 01/08/20 09:18 AM (4 years, 21 days ago)

Thanks for reading this.  I would get nowhere without the helpful Shroomery community.

Which of these 3 fully colonised plates would be best for trying out the blender LI TEK with Bottles (thanks Mudafuka). In a nutshell, I am going to drop the agar into 200ml sterile water in a blender jar, whizz it up, and pour it into PCed - 120 mins - coir-based substrate in Ziploc Quart PP5s.

Do any of them look useable to you? There are no obvious mould or bacterial growths visible on any of them (finally!). Do you need to see the whole dish or is a zoomed in shot okay?:

P9 - Mazapatec (this pinned months ago and they all went purple when I took a transfer - very odd)

P8 - Mazapatec

P7  - Golden Teacher

I also have plates with transfers from all 3 which look pretty clean to me, but they don't have a lot of mycelium thickness yet to populate the LI and are hard to photograph to get feedback on as they are so wispy. Might they be better than these 3?

Example of hard-to-see younger plate:

P23 - Mazapatec 3rd gen. transfer from clone

And here is a blender jar I made from a Ziploc Twist PP5 Quart, based on one I saw on the shroomery by Inski from New Zealand (cheers mate). I used 34-35mm diamond hole saw from a set I got on Ebay and used a lot of silicone to make a nice watertight wad all around the bottom - now curing for 24 hours before first use. Need to spin the blade with a battery-powered drill and a small square socket adapter (1/4" or 6mm) as it's too big for the Oster base (I like this 'bush blender' design - could also be used when camping for a morning smoothie):
