Meeting up with folks is only a problem if you are distributing illegal substances, I have no problem identifying someone else's mushrooms,  I'm just not going to give you anything.

Hey guys just want to introduce myself, couldn't find the 2020 actives or introduction threads, fl native, huge mushroom enthusiast, just getting started can't believe how fascinating this stuff is the medicinal and nutritional properties have blown my mind, is there a Florida specific id thread? Love to go out and find them while walking my bloodhound and curious if anyone has trained their dog to help hunt? Unfortunately can't id anything yet but as I suffer from longtime depression I'm really hoping to get some advice on identification everything I've read and watched makes them almost seem miraculous please point me in the right direction for threads I'm willing to try almost anything at this point, seems like a great community here and very excited to be a part of this rapidly growing movement, thanks.

Welcome to the shroomery,  the 2020 thread hasn't been created yet for Florida,  but whomever finds the next active mushrooms in Florida is welcome to start the thread.

Training a dog to hunt is something that I was recently pondering myself. Dogs are trained to hunt truffles so why not Psilocybe or something else. I too have a bloodhound, she's 9 months old and I may try this but I need to polish up on dog training methods.

Anyone can create an identification request,  it doesn't have to be by state or anything. If you see something that you want identified we are happy to help.

When creating an identification request, please use the template provided and answer as much as possible. Post clear up close pictures of the cap, gills and stem including the stem base. They are all important parts of the identification process and sometimes a spore print is needed.

If you plan on consuming any mushrooms, please wait for a Trusted identifier to identify your mushrooms and I also recommend you wait for multiple people to chime in and to either agree or disagree because even Trusted identifiers can make mistakes. It's ultimately up to you to make sure that you are receiving an accurate identification, especially when it comes to non active mushrooms.

How do you guys keep your grain jars warm on these cold nights? I'm noticing a big drop in vigor when the temps drop, and it speeds back up again when it warms up outside.
