The polypore mushrooms really stump me. This is an Agarikon, right? Would be pretty cool to check that off the list.

It looks like some sort of fomes but I'm not sure.

What’s the region? What kind of tree/log? Could you tell anything about softness or density? I agree with Doc, top pic looks pretty typical of Fomes growth. Much more hoofy than shelfy.
I dunno how unique it is to Agarikon, but the only 2 I’ve ever seen smelled like orange juice or a faint orange peel smell. I haven’t seen any other polypore that smelled like that.

It is in the Central Oregon Cascade range. Near the Three Sisters. I wish I had more pictures/information. I saw it while foraging for hedgehogs/yellow feet and took some pictures. I didn't want to mess with it too much as I had already yanked a bunch of mushies from the woods. I would say it was pretty hard though. Couldn't say about the smell.

Sometimes these mushrooms will switch growth directions if the tree falls over/is moved

Yeah. The tree had most likely fallen prior to the basidiocarp being there. It’s just naturally conforming to the curve. I guess I meant hoofy, like you’d want in this case, as opposed to shelfy which would rule it out pretty quickly. Based on the description I don’t think it is Agarikon, but I can’t say for sure.
North American Polypores Vol. 1; R. L. Gilbertson and L. Ryvarden http://mykoweb.com/systematics/literature/North%20American%20Polypores%20Vol.%201.pdf (When that was written it was still Fomitopsis officinalis)

A cross section would help, the color and texture of the internal flesh will go a long way towards figuring it out. Most likely either Laricifomes officinalis or Fomitopsis ochracea, small chance it could be Fomes, and definitely not a Ganoderma species.
