Top grains not colonizing
    #26421444 - 01/07/20 04:28 PM (4 years, 22 days ago)

I transfered agar to grain using golden teacher. This has been a 6 week colonization and I shook at 2 weeks because of very slow growth. It bounced back well but the top wont colonize. Should I sapwn now and get rid of top grains or shake again?

Probably just dried out. Looks like your lid setup is to blame.

The same thing happened to mine. Although it wasn't quite so many uncolonised so I opened the jar, gently removed most of them with a sterilised spoon, and spawned the jar. That was two weeks ago and I'm still waiting on shrooms, I can't say it worked for sure but it hasn't gone green yet!

It may have been better to gently shake them around enough to coat them and wait a few more days for full colonisation, but I was feeling impatient.

Ok I made a post 2 days ago about my lif setup not sure if I should do a smaller hole? I drilled a 1/2 inch hole in the lid then glued a cellulous filter disk to it.

Sounds like it's dried out. Spawn it and see what happens

Your lid might be drying out the top. Scrape off the uncolonized grain and spawn it. I usually give it a good 1/4 inch past the uncolonized grain.
