That's speculation at best. Coir doesnt cause contamination:facepalm:

Thats what I hear.

What Diego means, is that he said it, and in saying it, he heard it, therefore it must be true.  Check out the ridiculous line in his signature...babble quoted by him and written by him.

This dude's been spewing bad info here for days and doesn't really care about general consensus.  I swear the b.s. is intentional and not just due to a lack of knowledge

Why position yourself to go against facts? If you have contamination it's because your spawn is dirty.

Saying coir casing causes contamination is like saying a herb seasoning made your turkey overcooked.

I have a good amount of experience under my belt, just never had the chance to deal with a colonizing sub becoming contaminated. Have had jars, but never a sub. All a learning process and that's the best way to learn things.

Appreciate all the insight... and the entertainment:lol:

Trich and penecilium are fungi themselves and absolutely love for you to provide moisture for them through a casing.
Of course coir can be PCed if anyone’s really worried about it.

As far as spore loads, everyone should just chill.  Take a damp paper towel, place it over the potential spore area, press down and wiggle around a bit, leave it there.  Wash your hands.  There, no spore issues.  If you decide to still fruit the tub you can carefully clean up the spore loaded paper towel, otherwise, dump it with the rest.

I can’t tell if that is trich or not but in my experience everytime I’ve seen it on the surface it’s already all the way through to the bottom of the tub, often that spot will also stick to the tub bottom while mushroom mycelium lifts right out.
